Job Summary:
CACI is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to build and operate an AWS infrastructure supporting a large-scale DoW enterprise program. This role requires an experienced, hands-on professional with a proven track record of architecting and implementing complex AWS environments in secure, compliance-driven settings someone who designs the solution and then delivers it, working in the console, in the code, and alongside the engineers who run it every day.
Required Qualifications:
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, Engineering, or a related field; Master's preferred. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in cloud and infrastructure engineering, with substantial recent time hands-on in AWS
  • Expert-level AWS proficiency across compute, storage, networking, and identity with demonstrated ownership of multi-account environments built and operated in production
  • Deep, practical Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform and/or CloudFormation), including module design, state management, and multi-account deployment patterns
  • Production Kubernetes/EKS experience at the cluster-operations level (upgrades, node lifecycle, networking, RBAC, and workload identity)
  • Proficiency with Linux (RHEL preferred) and Windows operating systems in enterprise environments
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and identity federation integration
  • Demonstrated experience implementing cloud security and compliance controls in regulated environments, including STIG compliance, IAVA patching, and support to RMF/ATO activities
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop junior cloud engineers, raising the technical bar of the team through code review, pairing, and hands-on guidance
  • Outstanding communication skills, capable of translating technical decisions clearly for engineering teams, program leadership, and government stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a senior technical authority for AWS engineering on the program, setting direction and personally building the foundational infrastructure that direction depends on.
  • Build and operate multi-account AWS landing zones, including account structure, guardrails, centralized network connectivity, and shared services.
  • Architect, implement, and harden core network infrastructure: VPC design, Transit Gateway, private connectivity and endpoint architecture, DNS, and controlled egress paths.
  • Design and build production EKS platforms, including cluster provisioning, node and image lifecycle, workload identity, and container security controls.
  • Codify infrastructure as code end to end, establishing reusable modules, peer-reviewed workflows, and repeatable, auditable deployments across environments.
  • Build and maintain hardened image pipelines, applying STIG baselines and automated compliance scanning as a condition of release.
  • Implement and enforce security controls, access management, encryption, backup, and firewall policy across all infrastructure layers.
  • Contribute to multi-region disaster recovery, backup strategies, and resilience automation, validating recovery objectives through testing rather than assumption.
  • Troubleshoot complex outages and performance issues across compute, network, and platform layers while meeting contractual SLAs.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level cloud engineers, growing the team's depth through technical coaching, design review, and shared ownership of standards.
  • Establish engineering best practices, standards, and internal technical documentation, SOPs, and design artifacts.
  • Collaborate within a SAFe Agile delivery model alongside application, data, platform, and cyber teams.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience in AWS GovCloud and DoD Impact Level 4/5 environments
  • Hands-on experience operating in restricted or no-egress networks with an understanding of VPC endpoint architecture, private registries, and controlled ingest paths
  • AWS certifications at the Professional or Specialty level (Solutions Architect -Professional, DevOps Engineer - Professional, Advanced Networking, Security)
  • Experience with hardened container base images and approved image registries
  • Configuration management and automation at scale (Ansible, AWS Systems Manager)
  • Familiarity with eMASS, SCAP/ACAS scanning, and POA&M processes
  • Experience within a SAFe Agile program environment
  • Track record of successful large-scale infrastructure migrations and modernizations
