Job description

We are currently looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for a 100% remote position on a large federal government project. In this role, you will support the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable, and mission-critical healthcare applications that support federal modernization initiatives. You will work within a collaborative Agile environment alongside software engineers, architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps professionals, and product teams while leveraging modern technologies including Java, Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, React, AWS, and AI-enabled solutions.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java, Java EE, Java 17, Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, and React or Angular.
  • Architect and implement secure, cloud-native, event-driven microservices and RESTful APIs utilizing AWS services including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3.
  • Develop AI-enabled solutions by integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI APIs into enterprise healthcare applications while evaluating emerging AI technologies and best practices.
  • Build reliable backend services, optimize database performance, and ensure application scalability, security, and maintainability through sound engineering principles.
  • Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and DevOps best practices to deliver high-quality software in a regulated environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions while supporting Agile development processes and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer with technical leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience designing and developing distributed, cloud-native applications using modern software architecture principles.
  • Experience integrating AI or Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities into enterprise applications.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.
  • Strong proficiency with Java, Java EE, Java 17, and Spring Framework.
  • Experience developing applications using Node.js, TypeScript, React, or Angular.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3.
  • Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices and modern DevOps methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs or other federal government agencies.

  • Professional certifications in AWS, Java, Agile, or related technologies are preferred.
