Remote Java Engineer Jobs in Deerfield, IL (NOW HIRING)

We are hiring a Senior Java Engineer to join our client remotely!

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java-based backend services using Spring Boot.
• Design, build, and support event-driven architectures leveraging Kafka.
• Create and manage Kafka topics that support internal systems, downstream consumers, and enterprise integrations.
• Build scalable REST APIs and microservices that support high-volume transactional workloads.
• Design solutions that ingest, process, store, and retrieve data from DynamoDB.
• Implement efficient data access patterns and optimize DynamoDB performance.
• Develop backend services that consume and publish Kafka events.
• Automate application deployments using ArgoCD and GitOps methodologies.
• Deploy and support applications running in Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift environments.
• Partner with architects, product teams, and engineering stakeholders to define technical solutions.
• Monitor application health, performance, and reliability in production environments.
• Troubleshoot distributed system issues and drive root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to platform modernization and cloud-native engineering best practices.
• Mentor team members and participate in architectural design discussions.

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong Java development experience.
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience with ArgoCD and GitOps deployment practices.
• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift.
• Experience with AWS cloud services.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.
