Primary Objective: As a Software Engineering Manager at Spectrio, you will lead, mentor, and empower a high-performing agile development team to deliver cutting-edge, end-to-end audio and video marketing solutions. In this role, you will bridge the gap between product strategy and technical execution, driving continuous delivery, optimizing team workflows, and fostering a culture of trust and technical excellence to support our growing subscription-based platform.
Responsibilities include:
People & Performance Management
  • Performing One-on-Ones: Regular touchpoints focusing on career growth, unblocking issues, and building trust (not just project status updates).
  • Performance Management & Reviews: Setting expectations, delivering continuous feedback, and writing formal performance reviews.
  • Hiring & Firing: Team building, interviewing, onboarding new talent, and managing exits or performance improvement plans (PIPs).
  • Approving Timesheets: Handling administrative approvals accurately and on time.

Agile Process & Delivery
  • Sprint Grooming & Planning: Partnering with the team to ensure the backlog is refined, estimated, and ready for a successful sprint start.
  • Running Daily Standups & Retrospectives: Facilitating continuous alignment and helping the team reflect on how to improve their processes.
  • Sprint Reviews: Representing the team's accomplishments and deliverables at the end-of-sprint review meetings.
  • Team Metrics & KPIs: Tracking and reporting on team health and delivery performance (e.g., velocity, cycle time, burndown charts).

Strategy & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Product Owner Partnership: Collaborating with the Product Owner (PO) to align on product priorities, roadmap feasibility, and defining upcoming work.
  • Cross-Team Design Sessions: Participating in architectural and design alignments with leaders across the backend, device, and in-reality teams to ensure technical cohesion.

Support & Escalation Management
  • Production Escalations: Serving as the point person for managing and resolving high-priority production issues and outages.
  • Support-to-Engineering Pipeline: Working with the Support team to triage, prioritize, and transition escalations from Zendesk into actionable Jira tickets.

Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Leadership Experience: 2+ years of experience directly managing and mentoring Software Engineers (including 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and career development).
  • Technical Background: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong foundation in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and architectural design patterns.
Technical & Operational Skills
  • Multi-Stack Familiarity: Experience managing engineering teams working across diverse tech stacks (familiarity with environments like .NET, Java, Python, or JavaScript/Node.js is a plus).
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of cloud hosting services (specifically AWS), containerization (Docker), and modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • Modern Agile Mastery: Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, with a proven track record of using team metrics (e.g., velocity, cycle time) to optimize delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Capabilities: Experience partnering closely with Product Owners and managing/collaborating with QA resources to ensure high-quality releases.
Soft Skills
  • Problem Solving: Analytical and detail-oriented with decisive judgment and strong escalation management skills.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for cross-functional stakeholders (Backend, Device, Support, etc.).
