Job description


This is hybrid/remote - requires onsite weekly/monthly, and onsite interviews.
Location: 150 E 42nd Street, New York, NY
The Information Technology Specialist II (Data Architect) is an experienced technician who is responsible for data collection, movement, storage, transformation processing, and storage of Big Data. This individual works with both current ETL/Data Warehousing and future Big Data/Streaming/Pipeline architectures. This position consults with business partners to define requirements and develop solution alternatives and estimates, translating client's business requirements into specific systems, applications or process designs for IT solutions and integrating architecture.
Responsibilities
  • Participates in integrated systems planning and recommends alternative technologies that will enhance current or anticipated information systems that support overall business goals.
  • Participates and/or leads the review and design concepts for new systems and develops and documents the technical design for the integration and implementation.
  • Coordinates the development of comprehensive and strategic business cases with cost, service and benefit dimensions of proposed projects that are used at management and executive levels for funding and scope decisions.
  • Plans, coordinates and conducts the analysis of client business processes and functional requirements and the preparation of appropriate documentation to communicate and validate the information.
  • Independently initiates, identifies and coordinates the analysis of complex client needs in project areas such as new business operating models, innovative approaches to IT solutions support, market research or available product functionality and operational readiness assessment.
  • Participates in the leadership of cross-functional and/or cross-divisional task forces to identify and document functional requirements, workflow, information sources and system specifications.
  • Develops the analysis and definition of efficient, cost effective solutions that support client business processes, functional requirements and resource costs, including evaluation of existing applications and alternative uses of technology.
  • Advises clients on the consequences of actions; communicates risks and ensures understanding of these risks. Jointly develops risk assessment of plan with client, and provides ongoing communication.
  • Consults on the identification and definition of solution alternatives within the framework provided by Enterprise Architecture.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in a technical discipline; Masters degree preferred
  • Ten years of related experience, In -depth knowledge of associated technology areas that could impact area of responsibility; healthcare technology experience preferred.

Other requirements
  • 7+ years relevant professional development experience, preferably in a Data Engineering role.
  • In depth knowledge of the Azure cloud platform including Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
  • Strong SQL and NoSQL Database Knowledge: Oracle, PostgreSQL/MYSQL, and Mongo DB (or similar).
  • Experience working in Python and at least 1 programming languages among Scala/Java. Must be flexible and fast to pick up new languages.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating with various internal and external APIs and systems.
  • Proficiency on installation and configuration of big data software and technology
  • Knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, Kafka and other big data technology stacks and streaming tools.
  • Familiarity with and the ability to leverage a wide variety of open source technologies and tools.
  • Working knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation on Azure or AWS, is a big plus. Experience with serverless computing, creating VMs, cloud security, and other cloud services is also a big plus.
  • Experience working in an Agile methodology. Experience working with JIRA is a plus.

Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $120,000.00 - $180,060.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
