What does a remote investigative analyst do?

A Remote Investigative Analyst is responsible for researching, analyzing, and interpreting data to support investigations, typically from a remote location. Their work may include reviewing documents, gathering intelligence, identifying patterns, and preparing detailed reports for law enforcement, corporate security, or government agencies. They use various databases and analytical tools to detect fraud, assess risks, or uncover suspicious activities. Working remotely allows them to collaborate online with team members and clients across different locations.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote investigative analyst?

To thrive as a Remote Investigative Analyst, you typically need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a background in fields such as criminal justice, finance, or cybersecurity. Familiarity with data analysis tools, case management systems, and relevant certifications (like CFE or CAMS) is often required. Excellent written communication, critical thinking, and discretion are crucial soft skills for gathering, interpreting, and reporting sensitive information effectively. These competencies enable analysts to uncover accurate insights, ensure compliance, and support organizational decision-making from a remote environment.

How does a remote investigative analyst typically collaborate with team members despite working remotely?

Remote Investigative Analysts frequently collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders through secure digital communication platforms like video conferencing, encrypted emails, and project management tools. Job description

SR. PLATFORM INTEGRITY ANALYST (STARLINK)

At SpaceX, we are committed to ensuring the service remains a force for good and sustains trust worldwide: both connecting the unconnected and executing thorough processes to detect and prevent misuse by illicit operators. We are looking for an experienced Sr. Platform Integrity Analyst, known internally as Sr. Customer Integrity & Threat Detection Analyst to detect, disrupt, and investigate potential misuse of the service-including proactively combating and deterring illicit operators. This person must strike the careful balance of safeguarding customer information and privacy while applying enforcement measures and executing with an even-handed approach, avoiding overreach and disproportionate collateral impacts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively identify and assess platform integrity and abuse risks
  • Develop technical detection and mitigation strategies
  • React to investigate potential issues such as scams, fraud, and illicit goods/activities
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and deepen our relationships with them
  • Conduct periodic reviews to support legal and compliance obligations
  • Execute with consideration for customer privacy, targeting activities of indisputable harm and avoiding overreach

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of professional experience in global affairs, intelligence, or investigations; OR 6+ years of professional experience in global affairs, intelligence, or investigations in lieu of a degree
  • 4+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), geospatial tools (e.g., ArcGIS), and/or statistical software (e.g., R)
  • 4+ years of experience investigating, mitigating, or dealing with illicit operators (e.g., fraud, abuse, cybersecurity, or other illicit activities)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong analytical research and communication skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills
  • International professional exposure (e.g., working abroad or on global initiatives/businesses)
  • Experience in cybersecurity operations, threat detection, or vulnerability assessment in high-stakes environments
  • Experience with research and intelligence analytic techniques, including open-source intelligence (OSINT) data techniques
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment in a fast-paced, high-tech environment
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Familiarity with U.S. and international economic sanctions and export control laws and regulations

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel as needed for business (15%)
  • This position is based in Redmond, WA and requires being onsite-remote work not considered
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Level 3: $120,000.00 - $175,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees in Washington State accrue paid sick time in compliance with state and federal law.
