Washington, DC • Hybrid, 3 days onsite / 2 days remote

Our client seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to manage and optimize on-premises and cloud network environments. The role supports network hardware, monitoring tools, and core services across data centers and cloud platforms. It requires collaboration across infrastructure teams, implementation of network security best practices, and participation in after-hours maintenance twice per month. This hybrid position is based in Washington, DC.

Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $60.00 to $70.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Perform ongoing network maintenance, diagnostics, and design for 500+ nodes across multiple locations.
  • Administer switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access controllers, load balancers, and DNS/DHCP.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network-related issues.
  • Manage and optimize cloud network architectures across AWS and Google Cloud to support business services.
  • Configure and maintain VPCs, VPNs, Direct Connect, Transit Gateways, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
  • Provide prompt resolution of staff network problems and requests in coordination with support staff.
  • Collaborate with Workplace, Windows, Linux, Storage, Database, and Cloud teams.
  • Implement network security best practices including firewalls, NAC, and segmentation strategies across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Coordinate with ISPs to ensure reliable Internet connectivity and performance.
  • Provide services outside core working hours as required, including after-hours and weekend maintenance twice per month.
  • Work onsite several days each week with minimal travel as needed.
Experience Requirements:
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience with Cisco switching and routing (OSPF, BGP), firewalls (access-lists, VPN tunnels, remote access), and wireless access.
  • Experience with F5 load balancing, Cisco ISE, WAF, and DNS/DHCP is desirable.
  • Proficiency with network monitoring and management tools such as Site24x7, SevOne, or equivalents, and cloud-native monitoring solutions.
  • AWS experience with VPC, EC2, ALB/NLB, Transit Gateway, routing, Security Groups/NACLs, Network Firewall, VPN, Direct Connect, CloudFormation, and IAM roles.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and research skills with a solid understanding of L1–L4 network layers.
  • Ability to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco access-layer switches, and troubleshoot wired, wireless, VPN, cloud, and Internet connectivity using logical methods.
