Remote Intelligence Studies information

What are some common challenges faced in remote intelligence studies roles, and how can they be managed?

Remote intelligence studies professionals often encounter challenges related to secure data access, communication with team members across different time zones, and maintaining situational awareness without in-person collaboration. To overcome these, it's important to use secure, organization-approved tools for accessing and sharing sensitive information and to establish regular virtual check-ins with colleagues. Proactively seeking feedback and leveraging collaborative platforms can also help ensure alignment and effective teamwork, despite the physical distance.

What can I do with a degree in remote intelligence studies?

A degree in remote intelligence studies prepares individuals for roles in intelligence analysis, cybersecurity, and information security, often involving data collection, analysis, and reporting. Graduates can work for government agencies, private firms, or defense contractors, utilizing skills in research, critical thinking, and technology tools such as GIS and data analysis software.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote intelligence analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Intelligence Analyst, you need strong analytical abilities, research skills, and a relevant degree in intelligence studies, international relations, or a related field. Familiarity with data analysis software, intelligence databases, and secure communication systems is typically required. Excellent critical thinking, discretion, and clear written communication help analysts interpret data and convey insights effectively. These skills ensure accurate intelligence assessments and support informed decision-making for organizations working in security, defense, or policy.

Is a degree in remote intelligence studies worth it?

A degree in remote intelligence studies can be valuable for careers in intelligence analysis, cybersecurity, or national security, as it provides specialized knowledge and skills such as data analysis, open-source research, and understanding of geopolitical issues. However, practical experience, certifications, and security clearances often play a significant role in job prospects in this field. The degree can enhance employability but should be complemented with relevant skills and experience for best results.

Job description

About Faro Health
Faro Health is transforming how clinical trials are designed. Our software helps life sciences organizations build better studies by combining clinical expertise with modern technology and artificial intelligence. We help research teams design more efficient protocols, reduce trial complexity, and bring new therapies to patients faster.
We believe artificial intelligence should help experts make better decisions, not replace them. Our products support clinical teams throughout the study design process, giving them the information and tools they need to work more efficiently and with greater confidence.
Faro is a mission driven company seeking exceptional people who share our passion for improving drug development and patient outcomes. We foster a collaborative, inclusive culture that values curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning. We offer competitive
compensation and benefits, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working arrangements, and a hybrid work environment. Employees based in San Diego split their time between home and our headquarters, while remote employees regularly join us for team events and in person collaboration.
About the Role
As a Senior Product Designer, you will lead the design of products used by clinical scientists, medical writers, and clinical operations teams to design and author clinical trials.
You will work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Clinical SMEs, and the Data Science team to understand customer problems and turn them into simple, intuitive experiences. This role goes beyond creating attractive interfaces. You'll help define how
customers interact with intelligent features, collaborate with AI, and complete complex work with greater speed and confidence.
This is a senior individual contributor role with significant influence over the direction of our products and the experience our customers have every day.
Open to candidates who currently reside in San Diego, CA or Bay Area, CA.
Key Responsibilities
Design intelligent product experiences
  • Design experiences that help customers complete complex clinical workflows more efficiently.
  • Create thoughtful interactions that incorporate artificial intelligence in ways that feel natural, transparent, and easy to understand.
  • Design experiences for conversational interfaces, document authoring, recommendations, and workflow automation.
  • Ensure customers remain in control of important decisions while clearly understanding how recommendations are generated.
Own product design from concept to launch
  • Lead the design process from discovery through delivery.
  • Turn ambiguous product ideas into clear, usable solutions.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished designs that are ready for development.
  • Develop interaction patterns that can be reused across multiple products.
Partner on product strategy
  • Work closely with Product Managers to understand customer needs and shape product direction.
  • Participate in customer interviews, usability testing, and product discovery activities.
  • Use customer research, product analytics, and feedback to guide design decisions.
  • Balance customer needs with business priorities and technical constraints.
Simplify complex workflows
  • Design experiences that make sophisticated clinical processes easier to understand and complete.
  • Organize large amounts of structured information into interfaces that feel intuitive and approachable.
  • Create consistent experiences across document editing, structured data, and collaborative workflows.
Contribute to the design system
  • Help evolve Faro's design system and interaction patterns.
  • Promote consistency, accessibility, and usability across the platform.
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure designs are implemented with a high level of quality.
Collaborate across teams
  • Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Clinical SMEs, Customer Success, and the Data Science team throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Present design decisions with confidence and support them with customer research and usability principles.
  • Mentor designers through design critiques and collaborative problem solving.

Requirements
Required
  • 4+ years of experience designing enterprise SaaS products.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating ownership of complex product experiences from discovery through delivery.
  • Experience designing products that incorporate artificial intelligence or intelligent product capabilities.
  • Expertise in interaction design, information architecture, visual design, and user centered design.
  • Experience conducting user research and translating customer insights into product decisions.
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to simplify complex workflows.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
Preferred
  • Experience designing products that use large language models or generative AI.
  • Experience designing productivity tools, document authoring applications, or workflow automation software.
  • Experience working with enterprise software used by technical or specialized users.
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated industry is preferred.
Skills and Technologies
  • Expert proficiency with Figma and FigJam.
  • Experience working with design systems and component libraries.
  • Familiarity with product analytics platforms.
  • Experience using user research platforms.
  • Comfortable using AI assisted tools to accelerate design exploration and collaboration.
  • Strong visual communication, prototyping, and interaction design skills.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, you will:
  • Deliver intuitive product experiences that help customers complete their work faster and with greater confidence.
  • Improve product usability, customer satisfaction, and feature adoption through thoughtful design and continuous customer feedback.
  • Establish reusable interaction patterns that scale across Faro's growing platform.
  • Influence product strategy through customer research, systems thinking, and close partnership with Product Management and Engineering.
  • Help shape how artificial intelligence is thoughtfully integrated into the clinical trial design experience while maintaining customer trust and transparency.
