Position Summary:

As Software Developer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing secure, end-to-end cluster and application lifecycles in cloud environments. A key aspect of your technical team lead role will be to lead development of the platform's administrative and platform services, including user management, licensing, usage tracking, application on-boarding, and core platform infrastructure in a secure, cloud-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and delivery of modeling and simulation software solutions
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams
  • Design and implement DevSecOps pipelines using GitLab CI/CD
  • Develop and maintain software systems in C++ for high-performance applications
  • Build and manage artifact pipelines using Artifactory
  • Develop and support cross-platform applications (Linux and Windows environments)
  • Perform development and optimization within RHEL-based systems
  • Contribute to secure system design, implementation, and compliance practices
  • Integrate simulation tools and services into larger platform architectures
  • Support system integration, testing, and deployment pipelines
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with mission requirements
  • Maintain documentation and enforce best practices across development lifecycles

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Active Secret clearance with Top Secret eligibility
  • 5+ years of experience in Modeling & Simulation development
  • Strong proficiency in C++ development
  • Demonstrated experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with DevSecOps practices and secure software delivery
  • Experience managing artifacts using Artifactory
  • Strong experience with cross-platform development (Linux & Windows)
  • Experience developing in RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) environments
  • Experience with MATLAB for modeling or Simulation development
  • Proven ability to lead technical efforts and mentor junior engineers
  • Strong problem-solving and system design skills

Desired:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience in Aerospace modeling or simulation development
  • Familiarity with AFSIM (Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling)
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence for Agile project management
  • Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript
  • Experience with integration of complex systems and toolchains
  • Familiarity with OMS, JSE, or similar frameworks
  • Experience with cloud-based development environments
  • Background in distributed systems or large-scale simulation platforms

Basic Compensation:

$125,000-$145,000

This range is for the Springfield, VA area only

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's work location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, clearance level, contract affordability and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
