Job Description:

The Lead Engineer, Enterprise Applications is a technical leader responsible for guiding solution design, enabling effective delivery, and ensuring scalable, high-quality implementations across enterprise applications supporting core insurance operations, including policy administration, billing, enterprise content management (ECM), underwriting workbench, and related systems. This role combines deep technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration and solution leadership. The ideal candidate works closely with development teams to guide implementation, partners with business stakeholders to shape solutions, and aligns with architecture and infrastructure teams to ensure consistency and scalability across the technology landscape. This position plays a critical role in improving delivery quality, reducing technical risk, and ensuring systems are designed and implemented to support long-term business needs.

Work Arrangement:

  • Employees who live within 30 miles of the TMG home office are expected to follow a hybrid or in-office schedule. The initial training period may require additional inoffice days.

Accountabilities:

Technical Leadership & Solution Design

  • Lead the design of end-to-end solutions across enterprise applications, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with business objectives

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and shape effective, well-architected solutions

  • Provide technical leadership on complex initiatives, integrations, and cross-platform dependencies

  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and long-term technology direction

Development Guidance & Execution Enablement

  • Work closely with development teams to guide implementation approaches and ensure solutions align with design intent

  • Support teams during complex or high-risk initiatives by helping resolve technical challenges and unblock delivery

  • Promote sound engineering practices and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices

  • Review and validate key technical designs, implementation decisions, and integration approaches

Cross-System Integration & Alignment

  • Drive consistency in integration patterns, data flows, and system interactions across platforms

  • Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, and other application teams to ensure cohesive, aligned solutions

  • Act as a technical connector across systems such as policy administration, billing, ECM, underwriting workbench, and supporting platforms

  • Ensure data flows are accurate, efficient, and scalable across the application landscape

Quality, Standards & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and reinforce standards for solution design, development practices, and system integration

  • Identify and address technical risks, gaps, and inefficiencies across systems

  • Drive improvements in system reliability, scalability, and overall technical quality

  • Contribute to reducing technical debt through practical, forward-looking solutions

Qualifications:

Experience Required

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, enterprise systems, or technical leadership roles

  • Deep expertise in designing and implementing solutions across enterprise applications and integrated systems

  • Experience supporting or designing core insurance platforms (policy, billing, claims) or similar complex business environments

  • Strong understanding of system integration, APIs, data flows, and distributed system design

  • Proven ability to guide development teams and improve delivery outcomes through technical leadership

  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders to shape and design technology solutions

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to lead without direct authority

Experience Preferred

  • Experience in the insurance industry

  • Exposure to modern technology environments (cloud platforms, microservices, event-driven architecture)

  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture practices and governance

Pay Range:

Anticipated Hiring Range:

  • $130,000 - $155,000 annual base salary depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location

  • $140,000 - $170,000 annual base salary depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location in CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, and PA
