The Application Engineer will work closely with Sales, Technical Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Service, Quality, Manufacturing, and customers to ensure power conversion products are properly applied in solar, energy storage, and grid-connected power conversion projects. This role requires strong technical understanding of inverters, PCS platforms, electrical systems, system-level design, and customer project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical application support for power conversion products in utility-scale solar and battery energy storage applications in North American markets.
  • Support Sales and Technical Sales teams during customer engagements, project development, RFP/RFQ responses, and technical proposal preparation.
  • Review customer requirements, project specifications, single-line diagrams, site conditions, interconnection requirements, and product application needs.
  • Propose inverter and battery PCS configurations based on project requirements, system architecture, ratings, operating conditions, and compliance needs.
  • Prepare and support technical documentation including compliance matrices, product data, application notes, technical responses, drawings, and customer submittals.
  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to evaluate product fit, technical exceptions, design constraints, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Support system integration discussions with developers, EPCs, integrators, utilities, and energy storage partners.
  • Assist with technical reviews related to grid interconnection, controls, communications, protection, auxiliary power, thermal performance, and environmental conditions.
  • Support customer technical meetings, design reviews, factory visits, product demonstrations, and project qualification discussions.
  • Capture customer feedback, application issues, market requirements, and product improvement opportunities.

  • Maintain strong knowledge of competitive products, market requirements, codes, standards, and application trends in solar and energy storage.
  • Help develop standard tools, templates, calculators, and documentation to improve application engineering efficiency.
Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, utility-scale renewable/BESS project engineering, product/R&D engineering, systems engineering, field engineering, or technical support.
  • Experience with solar inverters, PCS, battery energy storage systems, power electronics, electrical equipment, or grid-connected energy systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, AC/DC power conversion, system ratings, single-line diagrams, technical specifications, and customer project requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, product datasheets, electrical schematics, project specifications, and compliance documents.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, product, manufacturing, quality, service, and operations teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple customer and project priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, technical documentation tools, and engineering analysis or design tools as applicable.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer meetings, site visits, factory visits, and industry events.
Preferred Qualifications
