Job description


The Business Development Manager drives market position and achievement of business outcomes through the Account Management and Commercial Operations Core Process. This position is the core sales position within the company responsible for new business and clients as well as managing and leveraging existing accounts. The Business Development Manager drives results through individual and collective team sales efforts.
What You Will Do:
  • Drive new business development and manage existing client relationships within the assigned region, market, or account base.
  • Use a consultative sales approach to promote certification, assurance, and training solutions, with emphasis on management system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IATF 16949, and AS9100.
  • Develop and execute account plans and business development strategies to achieve sales targets and expand market presence.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities with new and existing industrial clients.
  • Maintain strong client relationships to retain current business and grow share of wallet through cross-selling and upselling relevant services.
  • Lead client engagement efforts, including visit planning, meetings, presentations, and coordination with senior leadership when appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with technical, operations, and commercial teams to develop capture strategies, proposals, and pricing solutions.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, pipeline, and account activity data in the company CRM system.
  • Forecast sales activity and revenue performance within assigned accounts or territory.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, competitor activity, and industry developments to support strategic planning.
  • Identify opportunities for targeted marketing initiatives and campaigns that support lead generation and business growth.
  • Represent the company professionally in customer interactions and industry events, reinforcing the value of the company's service portfolio.
  • While the position is remote, regular travel (50%+) to client sites and project locations is a core part of the role.

What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited university or equivalent business/quality-related experience.
  • 5+ years of sales or business development experience, preferably in the industrial, manufacturing, technical service, certification, or assurance sectors.
  • Experience in selling and supporting third-party certification services for ISO standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IATF 16949, and AS9100.
  • Experience in the Certification, Assurance, Testing, Inspection, or related industry is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated success in consultative sales and business development.
  • Strong understanding of industrial client environments and the ability to align solutions to customer needs.
  • Working knowledge of management systems standards, particularly ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IATF 16949, and AS9100
  • Strong proposal development, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Ability to build credibility and maintain effective relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and standard business software tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Sensitivity to multicultural environments and ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.

Salary based on experience:
$90k - $130k
Reports directly to the Director of Business Development or senior level manager.
