POSITION TITLE: Power Transformer Crew Leader (FSCL)
EFFECTIVE DATE: August 2024,
REPORTS TO: Field Service Manager
DEPARTMENT: Field Service
STATUS: Exempt
LOCATION: Remote
Position Description Summary
The PT Field Service Crew Leader specializes in power transformers. The FSCL will lead a crew in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of power transformers at various customer sites. This role requires extensive travel and a commitment to delivering safe exceptional technical support and customer service.
Essential Functions
Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of field service technicians and resources.
  • Assign tasks and ensure they are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Conduct tailboard meetings and safety briefings.
  • Oversee the execution of field projects, ensuring safety and timely within-budget completion.
  • Coordinate with Field Service Planners, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain project field documentation and reports.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures, ensuring all work complies with local, industry, and corporate standards.
  • Maintain real-time safety inspections and audits.
  • Address and resolve any safety incidents or concerns directly with the Filed Service Safety Administrator.
  • Serve as the primary expert in the assembly, service, and repair of power transformers.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.

Communication:
  • Maintain effective communication with management, crew members, and clients.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, safety incidents, and any changes in work scope.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Equipment and Maintenance:
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and vehicles are in safe operating condition.
  • Perform regular maintenance inspections working directly with the Field Service Transportation Administrator.
  • Manage material needs and order necessary supplies and parts.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Extensive experience in power transformer installation, service, repair and testing.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work in various environmental conditions.

Education And Experience
  • Relevant certifications and licenses (e.g., electrical, safety).

Working Relationships
  • Primarily intra-organizational interactions, collaborating with supervisors and personnel under your direction. You will manage the interface coordinating and executing production requirements.

Physical Job Demands
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold conditions, stand for extended periods, and be exposed to loud noise levels.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have the ability to hear telephone conversations and speak clearly.
  • May require high levels of concentration in a busy, dynamic environment.

Working Conditions
Monday through Friday and on-call will be required.
