Locations: Haines, AK

Pay: $30/hour + Overtime

At proHNS LLC, we're looking for a Grade Inspector who thrives in hands-on construction environments, enjoys travel to remote locations, and takes pride in ensuring quality work is done right the first time. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable working independently on active construction sites.

You'll work closely with Project Engineers and Contractors to inspect construction activities and verify compliance with project plans and specifications. From airports and highways to marine and utility projects, your work will directly support safe, durable infrastructure throughout Alaska.

What You'll Do

  • Inspect excavation and fill operations, grading, and earthwork
  • Inspect placement of concrete forms, concrete mixing and pouring, and asphalt paving
  • Observe utility removal and installation activities
  • Communicate regularly with the Contractor's foreman regarding construction activities
  • Measure, track, and document pay item quantities
  • Prepare source documentation and maintain accurate Inspector Daily Reports
  • Ensure construction complies with project plans and specifications
  • Work independently on active construction sites, including remote locations
  • Travel to project sites by boat, aircraft, or off-road vehicle as required

What You Bring

  • Minimum of two seasons' experience in construction inspection, materials testing, construction surveying, or related work. Formal education in construction management, construction technologies, or engineering may be considered instead of experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to provide three professional or personal references
  • Comfort working independently for extended periods in remote environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on airport, highway, bridge, and/or marine construction projects
  • Experience working for or on behalf of state and federal agencies
  • AK-CESCL or equivalent erosion and sediment control certification or experience
  • WAQTC or equivalent materials sampling and testing certification
  • Nuclear Density Gauge certification and experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
