Position:Application Engineer, Data Centers Vertical
Reports To:VP of Sales
Location:100% Remote (preferably East Coast USA or Central USA)
Territory:USA
Travel: up to40%

Thomson Power Systems (TPS), a Regal Rexnord company, isseekinga highly motivated Sales Application Engineer to support the growth of our Data Center vertical within the Power Management division. This role will work sidebyside with the Data Center Business Development managers, Product Manager, and Engineeringto develop product strategy, support customer engagements, and help shape the gotomarket (GTM) approach for switchgear, automatic transfer switches (ATS), modular power solutions, and engineered power management systems.

This is a hands-on, fieldfocused role that blends technicalexpertise, product development insight, and customer-facing collaboration. You will spend significant time engaging with customers, channel partners, and internal teams to understand market needs, gather product requirements, and ensure TPS solutions are positioned for success in critical infrastructure markets such as hospitals, education, municipal facilities, water/wastewater, airports, and other institutional environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Product Manager to define product requirements, enhancements, and longterm roadmap priorities for theData Centervertical.

  • Conduct field research, customer interviews, and competitive analysis toidentifyemerging needs in switchgear, ATS, modular power, and critical power distribution.

  • Translate customer and market insights into actionable product specifications and business cases.

  • Work directly with theData Center Business Development Managersto support customer engagements, technical discussions, and solution positioning.

  • Assistin developing GTM strategies, value propositions, and sales tools tailored to infrastructure applications.

  • Provide product training, technical support, and application guidance to sales teams, channel partners, and end users.

  • Customer & Channel Engagement

  • Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and industry events torepresentTPS's product capabilities and gather realworld feedback.

  • Build strong relationships with consulting engineers, EPC firms, electrical contractors, integrators, and facility stakeholders.

  • Support presales activities including solution scoping, application reviews, and technical presentations.

  • Work with product management, engineering, operations, marketing, and service teams to ensure product alignment, launch readiness, and lifecycle support.

  • Providefield insights to internal teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Assistin developing documentation, training materials, and technical collateral.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related technical field.

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a technical, product, or applications engineering role within electrical power systems, critical power, or related industries.

  • Strong understanding of power distribution equipment such as switchgear, ATS, paralleling systems, or modular power solutions.

  • Strong technical knowledge of switchgear and power distribution product standards (UL, CSA, ANSI, IEEE, NEC/CEC) within the Data Center space.

  • Ability to translate customer needs into product requirements and communicate effectively with engineering teams.

  • Comfortable travelling up to40% for customer visits, site assessments, and industry events.

  • Has access to key stakeholders in the purchasing decisions of switchgear.

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Familiarity with codes and standards relevant to power distribution and emergency power systems.

  • Strong communicationand presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.

$140,000 - $150,000

The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for this position. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, the geographic market of that location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education and internal peer compensation comparisons among other potential factors.
