Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Programmer to join our team. The Programmer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and supporting software applications and systems that meet business and operational requirements.

The ideal candidate is a problem solver with strong programming fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into reliable, maintainable software solutions.  Assist users with software and hardware needs as needed. 

Key Responsibilities

         Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications and programs.

         Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.

         Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code.

         Modify and enhance existing applications to support changing business needs.

         Troubleshoot software issues and identify and resolve programming errors.

         Pick up Help Desk tickets and assist users with issues.

         Perform application testing, including unit, integration, and regression testing.

         Work with users, business stakeholders, & other technical personnel to understand requirements and resolve issues.

         Integrate applications with databases, APIs, third-party systems, and other business applications as needed.

         Maintain appropriate technical documentation for applications, programs, interfaces, and processes.

         Participate in code reviews and follow established development standards and best practices.

         Monitor application performance and assist with identifying opportunities for improvement.

         Support production applications and investigate issues in a timely manner.

         Participate in software upgrades, system implementations, migrations, and other technology projects.

         Follow established security, data protection, version control, and change-management procedures.

         Stay current with programming languages, development tools, technologies, and industry best practices.

Working Conditions

         In-office / On-site work environment. This is not a hybrid or remote position.

         May occasionally require work outside normal business hours for application deployments, upgrades, or critical production support.

         Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and support requests.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

         Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

         1+ years of programming or software development experience.

         Strong knowledge of at least one modern programming language.

         Experience with relational databases and SQL.

         Understanding of software development methodologies and the software development lifecycle.

         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

         Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

         Ability to read, understand, and modify existing source code.

         Strong written and verbal communication skills.

         Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with technical and non-technical team members.

Preferred Qualifications

         Experience developing business applications or enterprise software.

         Experience with web application development.

         Experience with APIs and system integrations.

         Experience with PCs and Servers.

         Experience with Database Servers.

         Experience working with ERP, CRM, Distribution, manufacturing, financial, or other business systems.

         Experience supporting production applications in a business environment.

         Experience with the Windows Operating System.

         Experience with Linux a plus.

         Experience with Infor/SXe a plus.

Technical Skills

The successful candidate may work with some or all of the following technologies, depending on the organization's environment:

         Programming languages such as C#, Java, or JavaScript

         SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, DB2, Progress, or MySQL

         REST APIs and web services

         HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

         Visual Studio, VS Code, or similar development environments

         Automated testing and deployment tools

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting: May require sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Manual Dexterity: Fine motor skills are essential for tasks like typing, using a mouse, and handling small components.
  • Visual Acuity: Good vision is necessary for reading screens, analyzing data, and performing detailed work.
  • Lifting: Occasionally may need to lift and move equipment, which can weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Mobility: Requires walking or standing, especially when setting up hardware or troubleshooting on-site.
