What is a remote IAM engineer?

A Remote IAM (Identity and Access Management) Engineer is a cybersecurity professional who designs, implements, and manages systems that control user access to digital resources, all while working from a remote location. Their responsibilities include configuring authentication and authorization solutions, integrating identity services, and ensuring compliance with security policies. They often work with tools such as Active Directory, Okta, or Azure AD, and collaborate with IT teams to protect sensitive data and maintain secure access for users. Remote IAM Engineers play a crucial role in safeguarding organizational assets, especially in distributed or cloud-based environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote IAM engineer?

To thrive as a Remote IAM Engineer, you need a deep understanding of identity and access management concepts, authentication protocols (such as SAML, OAuth, and LDAP), and a background in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with IAM platforms like Okta, Ping Identity, or Microsoft Azure AD, along with relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CIAM), is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective remote communication make someone stand out in this role. These skills are vital to securely managing user access, protecting organizational data, and ensuring seamless collaboration in distributed work environments.

What are some common challenges a remote IAM engineer faces when troubleshooting identity and access management issues across distributed teams?

As a Remote IAM Engineer, one frequent challenge is diagnosing access issues that arise due to inconsistent configurations across different environments or cloud platforms. Collaborating with distributed teams can also make communication about security policies and urgent incidents more complex, requiring clear documentation and proactive outreach. Additionally, ensuring secure remote access while maintaining compliance with organizational policies can be demanding, as it involves balancing user convenience with robust security controls. Adapting to new tools for remote troubleshooting and building strong relationships with security and IT teams are key to overcoming these challenges.

Job description

Company Overview

Docusign brings agreements to life. Over 1.5 million customers and more than a billion people in over 180 countries use Docusign solutions to accelerate the process of doing business and simplify people's lives. With intelligent agreement management, Docusign unleashes business-critical data that is trapped inside of documents. Until now, these were disconnected from business systems of record, costing businesses time, money, and opportunity. Using Docusign's Intelligent Agreement Management platform, companies can create, commit, and manage agreements with solutions created by the #1 company in e-signature and contract lifecycle management (CLM).

What you'll do

The Senior Product Manager, CLM & IAM B2B Platform is responsible for driving the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of core capabilities within the Docusign CLM and Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform, with a specific focus on enterprise experiences. You will own key platform elements including scalability, monetization levers, folder and content security, and data management that enable customers to optimize their agreement workflows. By partnering closely with engineering, design, GTM, and cross-functional stakeholders, you will define customer problems, prioritize solutions, and deliver high-quality features, while also developing the vision, design, and delivery of the systems necessary to support Docusign's core text management functionalities for agreement preparation in collaboration with product, sales, and engineering teams.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, Product Management, Docusign CLM & IAM B2B Pre-execution.

Responsibility

  • Define and own the product vision and multi-quarter roadmap for CLM & IAM B2B platform capabilities, ensuring alignment with Docusign's broader platform strategy

  • Translate stakeholder needs into clear problem statements and prioritized backlog items

  • Lead requirements for scalability features like high-volume document processing and large enterprise folder structures

  • Partner with engineering to define SLAs, capacity planning, and performance targets

  • Own requirements related to service charges and billing-relevant platform capabilities, collaborating with finance and pricing teams to ensure alignment with commercial models

  • Evolve folder and content security capabilities, including permissions models and access controls, ensuring alignment with compliance and legal standards

  • Own requirements for data management, including metadata models, retention policies, and lifecycle rules to support reporting and future AI-driven capabilities

  • Define requirements for managing user access, provisioning, and entitlements within the platform, ensuring secure and efficient user lifecycle management

  • Write clear product requirements and user stories, manage the product backlog, and facilitate requirements definition with design and engineering partners

  • Drive launch readiness across marketing, sales, and support

  • Act as a subject matter expert, represent customer perspectives in prioritization discussions, and validate product direction with internal and external stakeholders
