About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Civil Engineering Intern. This on-the-job experience will support the firm’s water, wastewater and stormwater groups with the design and construction of a variety of facilities and offer the opportunity to work directly with our firm clients. A variety of responsibilities and duties will provide a well-rounded background in engineering. We are seeking qualified applicants for an intern position in our West Palm Beach, FL office.

What your day-to-day will look like

  • Assisting senior engineers with the evaluation, study and design of water and wastewater pipelines and pumping stations.
  • Work with a variety of clients including municipal and county to complete roadway, stormwater, underground utility, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Field work, studies and design of water and wastewater system rehabilitation.
  • Water and wastewater systems hydraulic modeling computation and analysis.
  • Work independently on a variety of tasks including CAD, Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, and Roadway Design, Quantity Computation, Traffic Analysis, and Data Collection

Education/Certification Requirements

  • Ongoing pursuit of a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering.

Must-haves, what you will bring

  • Maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.0.
  • Available to start May or June 2027.
  • Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman service area (own transportation).
  • Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of projects.
  • Strong verbal, computer, organizational, and writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Compensation The hourly pay for this role is $23.00. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
