Position Purpose 

The purpose of the Provider Support Assistant position is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare professionals by providing comprehensive administrative and patient support services using advanced virtual technologies. This role aims to streamline healthcare workflows, improve patient experiences, and contribute to the overall quality of care by delivering timely and accurate information, scheduling, and assistance, while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism in a virtual environment. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Act as the liaison between providers and patients to support the patients on going care. 
  • Providing pathology and laboratory results.
  • Completing medical records requests.
  • Processing prescription refill requests.
  • Processing medication prior authorization requests.
  • Other duties as assigned and subject to change as requirements evolve.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent- healthcare specific training preferred, but not required.
  • Friendly, polite, and professional. 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Empathy and a caring attitude towards patients.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. 
  • Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to US HIPAA laws and other relevant regulations. 
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet, private workspace.

  • This position is remote, and the candidate must live in Alabama
  • Derick Dermatology will provide you with the appropriate equipment for your work from home environment, such as: secure laptop, monitor(s), headset, and webcam. Equipment issued varies based off job function.
  • Training is 2 weeks, the training schedule may differ from schedule hired for. 
  • Must have a dedicated workspace within your home
  • Must pass an internet speed test
  • Wired internet connection (no Wi-Fi)
