What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) Specialist, you need expertise in parallel computing, cluster management, and strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C/C++, or Fortran, often backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with HPC job schedulers (like SLURM or PBS), cloud platforms, and Linux-based systems, as well as relevant certifications, is highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and the capacity to work independently are crucial soft skills in remote environments. These competencies ensure efficient deployment, management, and troubleshooting of complex HPC resources while supporting diverse user needs from a distance.

What is Remote High Performance Computing?

Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) refers to the use of powerful computing resources and clusters that are accessed over the internet or a network, rather than being located locally. This setup allows researchers, engineers, and organizations to perform complex computations, simulations, and data analysis from anywhere, without the need for on-site supercomputers. Remote HPC enables scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness by allowing users to leverage shared resources, often provided by cloud service providers or specialized data centers.

How does a Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) professional typically collaborate with research teams and IT staff?

Remote HPC professionals often work closely with research scientists, data analysts, and IT administrators to ensure computational resources are efficiently allocated and optimized for large-scale projects. Collaboration usually happens through virtual meetings, ticketing systems, and shared documentation platforms, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. Daily tasks may involve troubleshooting user issues, managing job scheduling, and maintaining cluster performance, all while coordinating with geographically dispersed teams. This dynamic environment fosters continuous learning and exposure to cutting-edge scientific and technical applications.

Job description

Overview

The Strategy Analyst will be a foundational member of Lakeview’s Consumer Direct Strategy team, supporting one of the company’s largest and most critical business lines – a direct-to-consumer mortgage platform serving customers nationwide within Bayview Asset Management, a $39B global alternative investment manager. In this role, you will operate as an internal consultant on Lakeview’s highest-priority initiatives across growth, operations, and transformation.

This role is an accelerated development path for high-potential early-career talent seeking to build consulting-grade problem-solving, analytics, and business leadership skills. The Analyst will partner closely with former strategy consultants and senior executives, gaining exposure to how decisions are developed and executed across a multi-billion-dollar platform.

The role mirrors top-tier consulting environments, with the added benefit of seeing strategies through execution and measurable impact. This is a high-performance environment with elevated expectations for ownership, quality, and pace. Analysts are positioned to grow into senior strategy and business leadership roles within Lakeview or the broader Bayview Asset Management organization.

The Strategy Analyst will drive structured problem solving, data analysis, and executive-ready deliverables across initiatives. The role offers exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional teams (Sales, Operations, Technology, Marketing, Finance), while building a consulting toolkit including hypothesis-driven problem solving, presentation development, financial modeling, and executive storytelling.

Key responsibilities include supporting the Monthly Business Review process, contributing to strategic initiatives (including M&A, operational improvements, digital initiatives, and go-to-market strategy), and informing strategic decisions.

This is a fully remote position that offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $95,000, plus an annual bonus. You'll also receive our excellent benefits package, which includes medical coverage starting on day one and a company-matched 401(k). Compensation may vary based on experience, location, and other job-related factors.

Program & Initiative Execution

  • Own tracking, milestone management, and issue identification across key transformation initiatives and workstreams.
  • Support program and change management activities, including initiatives updates, risk identification, progress reporting, and communications.
  • Contribute to high-impact projects spanning operational improvement, digital enablement, customer acquisition, and strategic planning.

Learning & Development

  • Learn and apply consulting methodologies, including hypothesis-driven problem solving, structured frameworks (MECE), business case development, and executive-level storytelling.
  • Build foundational knowledge of the mortgage and financial services ecosystem through hands-on project work.
