Join us and put your data analytics knowledge and skills to work in support of Operational Finance.

The Healthcare Senior Analyst will develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to provide critical insights into operational and financial performance. They will help support building and maintaining complex data models and their proficiency in working with large data sets will be crucial. By conducting in-depth data analysis and creating ad hoc reports, they will support strategic decision-making and enhance the team's ability to achieve key performance goals.

This position is full-time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8am - 5pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. 

We offer weeks of paid training. The hours of training will be based on your schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Data Engineering & SQL Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL solutions to support reporting, analytics, and business decision-making.
  • Write highly efficient and scalable SQL queries against large datasets containing millions of records.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency with SQL concepts, including: 
    • Window functions
    • Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
    • Temporary tables
    • Query optimization techniques
    • Complex joins and data transformations
    • Layering and structuring business logic across multiple query steps
  • Analyze and troubleshoot data quality, performance, and reporting issues.
  • Develop repeatable and maintainable data solutions that are easy to understand and support.

Data Modeling & Analytics

  • Design and maintain data models that accurately represent business processes and reporting requirements.
  • Possess a strong understanding of dimensional modeling concepts, including fact tables, dimension tables, and their relationships.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy across reporting and analytical datasets.

Power BI Development

  • Develop and maintain enterprise-level Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Create optimized Power BI data models capable of supporting large datasets while maintaining strong report performance.
  • Leverage best practices around relationships, DAX, data model design, and dataset optimization.
  • Design intuitive and visually compelling dashboards that effectively communicate key business insights.
  • Balance technical performance with user experience and dashboard usability.

Automation & Python Support

  • Utilize Python to support data processing, automation, and analytical workflows when appropriate.
  • Understand fundamental Python concepts, including: 
    • Script execution
    • Functions and modules
    • Reading and writing data files
    • Reusing and integrating code across multiple scripts
  • Collaborate with other technical team members to support automation initiatives and process improvements.

Leadership & Technical Ownership

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for data architecture, SQL development, and reporting solutions.
  • Mentor team members and promote best practices in analytics, reporting, and data management.
  • Independently solve complex technical problems with minimal supervision.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data processes, reporting capabilities, and overall analytical maturity.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, or a related technical role
  • Advanced SQL expertise with experience building complex queries and data solutions
  • Deep understanding of: 
    • Window functions
    • CTEs
    • Temporary tables
    • Query performance tuning
    • Multi-step data transformations
    • Relational databases
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling, including fact and dimension tables
  • Ability to work independently and translate ambiguous business requirements into actionable technical solutions
  • Problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with datasets containing tens of millions of records
  • Experience with Python for automation, data processing, or analytical workflows
  • Experience designing scalable reporting and data architecture solutions
  • Experience mentoring analysts or serving as a technical lead
  • Knowledge of data governance, ETL processes, and enterprise reporting best practices
  • Advanced Power BI experience, including: 
    • Data modeling
    • DAX
    • Report optimization
    • Dashboard development
    • Large dataset performance management

   

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Reside within Pacific Time Zone
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
