About the Role
ShareSTAFF is hiring a Senior Inpatient Coder for a temp-to-hire assignment at a Remote in Phoenix, Arizona. ShareSTAFF Healthcare is seeking a Senior Inpatient Coder to serve as the subject matter expert on a small inpatient coding team supporting a federal healthcare claims program. In this remote role, you'll perform DRG validation and retrospective inpatient claims review, mentor other coders, and serve as the go-to resource on ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as subject matter expert on ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding for medical claims
  • Take the lead role on coding projects as directed by Clinical Operations management
  • Perform DRG Validation of medical claims coding using current coding guidelines and support software
  • Conduct focused outpatient and/or inpatient claims reviews as requested and summarize findings
  • Provide training and mentoring for new and existing clinical coders
  • Identify and report potential fraudulent or quality issues
  • Research coding manuals for benefits, limitations, and exclusions to support the referral/authorization decision process
  • Monitor and track timeliness of retrospective claims reviews to ensure compliance with required timelines
  • Prepare determination notices and other written correspondence
  • Review coding issues identified by quality-monitoring partners and document findings, rationale, and corrective actions
What You Bring - Required
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current certification as Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) — broader list per client email

  • U.S. Citizenship required — no exceptions
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication under a DoD background investigation (Interim and Final)
  • 5+ years of clinical coding experience for facility and/or professional accounts

  • Documented experience working in a fast-paced environment
