Job description

Credentials Coordinator

Specialty: Medical Staffing

Job Type: Travel

Minimum Guaranteed Hours: 40

Demonstrated experience in Medical Staff functions in acute care setting (hospital). Credentialing and privileging of initial applicants and reappointments.

Facility Specific License/Certifications: Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required

Essential Functions:

  • Assumes responsibility for all assigned credentialing functions for medical and allied health staff, which may include: appointment, reappointment, privileging, ongoing professional practice evaluation, focused professional practice evaluations/proctoring, and provisional review to ensure compliance with medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, state and federal requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Interfaces with various departments and physicians to provide and interpret relevant data enabling identification of any practitioners who may not meet the standards of care for the community.
  • Assumes responsibility for meeting management (agenda preparation, minutes, meeting follow-up, etc.) for assigned medical staff departments and committee functions.
  • Maintains current knowledge of medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and hospital policies related to medical staff and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Maintains medical staff database and official rosters and call schedules.
  • Maintains medical staff documents, policies and procedures in such a way as to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Manages medical staff dues & fees.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the medical staff.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Jobs Notes:

  • Day Shift: remote, 5 x 8s
  • Must be a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM)

Credentialing & Recredentialing:

  • Evaluate, verify, and process applications for initial appointment and reappointment of medical staff and allied health professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital bylaws, policies, and regulatory standards.

Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date credentialing files and databases.
  • Assign provider privileges and update systems accordingly.

Committee Support:

  • Prepare credentialing packets for review by department chairs and credentialing committees.
  • Assist in organizing and documenting Credentialing and Medical Executive Committee meetings.

Compliance & Audits:

  • Participate in audits and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure readiness for accreditation and regulatory surveys.

Communication:

  • Serve as a liaison between the medical staff, administration, and external agencies regarding credentialing matters.
