Job Description

The Software Architect is a hands‑on technical leader responsible for designing and guiding the architecture of FHLBank’s software systems and integrations. This role ensures platforms are scalable, secure, and aligned with strategic goals while enforcing SDLC best practices across development teams. The architect defines architectural frameworks, supports complex design and refactoring efforts, and partners with enterprise architecture and innovation teams to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies—including AI and automation—to drive digital transformation and strengthen the Bank’s competitive edge.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Lead architectural direction for projects, guide design discussions, and define integration patterns.

  • Enforce design methodologies and code quality through reviews, tooling, and refactoring.

  • Develop technology roadmaps that support scalable, future‑state enterprise applications.

  • Research emerging technologies and share best practices through training and education.

  • Promote innovation, collaboration, and creative problem‑solving across teams.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; professional certifications or a graduate degree preferred.

  • 8+ years of application development experience across web and cloud solutions, plus 4+ years in application and system design with emphasis on scalable, distributed architectures—especially in Microsoft Azure.

  • Strong foundation in OOP, design patterns, architecture principles, and enterprise frameworks.

  • Proficiency with multiple programming languages, Microsoft technologies, cloud computing, and distributed systems.

  • Advanced knowledge of database design, optimization, data warehousing, and secure coding practices.

  • Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, TDD, and long-term code maintainability.

  • Strong leadership, mentorship, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.

  • Ability to integrate emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, blockchain, automation, and cloud‑native architectures.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently, including travel as needed.
