What is a remote global workforce?

A remote global workforce refers to a team of employees who work from different locations around the world, rather than from a central office. These employees connect virtually, using technology and online collaboration tools to communicate and complete their tasks. This approach allows companies to tap into a broader talent pool, offer greater flexibility, and often operate more efficiently across time zones. Managing a remote global workforce requires clear communication, strong digital infrastructure, and effective leadership to ensure productivity and cohesion.

What are common challenges faced by professionals working in a remote global workforce, and how can they be managed?

Professionals in a remote global workforce often encounter challenges such as coordinating across multiple time zones, ensuring effective communication despite cultural and language differences, and maintaining work-life balance. These can be managed by setting clear expectations around availability, utilizing collaboration tools that support asynchronous work, and fostering an inclusive team culture through regular virtual check-ins. Proactively addressing these challenges helps remote teams stay connected and productive while leveraging the diverse perspectives of a global workforce.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote global workforce manager, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Global Workforce Manager, you need expertise in remote team leadership, international labor laws, and cross-cultural communication, often backed by a degree in business, HR, or a related field. Familiarity with collaboration platforms (such as Slack, Zoom, and project management tools), HRIS systems, and certifications like SHRM or PHR is highly beneficial. Strong soft skills like adaptability, emotional intelligence, and proactive problem-solving help you navigate diverse teams across time zones and cultures. These skills are vital for ensuring efficient operations, employee engagement, and compliance in a distributed, global work environment.

Director, Rewards & OperationsCulver City, CA or Remote

Role Impact:

MarketCast is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director, Rewards & Operations to partner closely with the CHRO and business leaders in designing, delivering, and continuously improving best-in-class total rewards and HR operations for our global workforce. This leader will shape and communicate MarketCast’s rewards philosophy, strengthen scalable HR operating practices, and drive a high-quality employee experience across payroll, benefits operations, people analytics, HR systems, compliance, and service delivery. The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, operational discipline, data-driven decision-making, and a passion for building programs that are competitive, inclusive, efficient, and easy to navigate.

We’re Looking For:

  • Own and evolve the strategy for total rewards and HR operations, ensuring programs and services are aligned with business priorities, talent goals, employee engagement insights, inclusion commitments, and the overall employee experience.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the CHRO, executive leaders, HR business partners, Finance, Legal, IT, and other cross-functional stakeholders on initiatives with rewards, operations, and talent strategy implications, including M&A, global growth, workforce planning, and strategic partnerships.
  • Design, evaluate, and enhance rewards programs, including benefits, recognition, and related offerings, using market benchmarking, employee feedback, utilization data, cost analysis, and emerging trends to ensure competitiveness, equity, sustainability, and alignment with MarketCast’s business strategy.
  • Lead continuous improvement across HR operations by simplifying workflows, clarifying ownership, strengthening service delivery, improving handoffs, and leveraging technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to reduce friction and scale efficient ways of working.
  • Develop clear communications, training, toolkits, and change-management resources that help employees and leaders understand MarketCast’s rewards offerings, HR processes, self-service tools, and ways of working.

  • Establish and maintain people analytics, reporting rhythms, dashboards, and data-quality practices that provide leaders with reliable insights into rewards, workforce trends, operational performance, employee experience, and program effectiveness.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Rewards & Operations team, fostering accountability, collaboration, inclusion, operational excellence, and a continuous-improvement mindset across global HR service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field required; master’s degree, MBA, or relevant certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in total rewards, global benefits administration, payroll operations, HR operations, or shared services; compensation experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong business and strategic acumen, with the ability to translate organizational goals into practical operating plans, program roadmaps, governance models, and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience leading global or distributed teams and creating an inclusive, accountable environment where people can thrive and deliver high-quality work.
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Suite and strong proficiency with Microsoft products; comfortable using data, reporting, and presentation tools to inform decisions and communicate recommendations.
  • Experience in high-growth, technology, consulting/advisory, or professional services environments, with exposure to larger corporate operating models preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly evolving, matrixed organization and lead teams through transformation, ambiguity, prioritization tradeoffs, and change.
  • Exceptional influencing, problem-solving, collaboration, executive communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated project and program management experience, including the ability to manage multiple workstreams, vendors, timelines, risks, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of HR practices, benefits, payroll, leave of absence regulations, data privacy expectations, and local labor and employment requirements.
  • Strong proficiency with HR systems such as UKG, including a working understanding of HRIS data integrity, reporting, workflows, user experience, and integrations.
  • Ability to thoughtfully leverage AI, automation, and digital tools to improve ways of working, enhance program delivery, strengthen insights, and increase operational efficiency.
