The Loadsensing monitoring solution includes best-in-class edge devices, LoRa-based wireless connectivity and a cloud-based connectivity management platform. We also join forces with key industry players to offer software applications and solutions which engineering service providers use to add value to end customers.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Funds Manager to join our organization in the Innovation & Compliance team, based in Barcelona, Spain.

The Mission:

Your mission will be to effectively manage the external funds Worldsensing receives, following internal policies and terms & conditions of the funding bodies according to the highest standards.Provide financial guidance, advice, and support to Project Managers working with European Commission projects or projects with funding from other regional, national, and international entities. Support the implementation of a high-level system for financial project management of public-funded projects within the company.

You will work in an international environment, reporting to the VP Innovation and Compliance, and will work closely with several departments (Finance and Innovation, in particular).

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the acceptance process (administrative and financial internal review) in liaison with relevant departments' requirements during the grant life cycles.
  • Leading the financial management of public funding projects so that the core requirements are met by monitoring budget and expenditure levels on the assigned projects following up on budget deviations and budget forecasts, and planning the claims time-sheet on a monthly basis.
  • Being responsible for ensuring compliance with financial procedures required from funding entities, concerning the execution and reporting of projects.
  • Developing accurate interim and final project reporting, in terms of time-sheets and other allocated costs, for the funding entities' inspection.
  • Producing project reports for Executive Board meetings when requested.
  • Assisting the VP Innovation and Compliance in successfully drafting responses to consultations from funding entities.
  • Liaising with funding bodies and project coordinators to solve administrative and financial issues.
  • Providing proactive timely and accurate advice, guidance, and support to Project Managers to maximize the recovery of direct and indirect costs.
  • Identifying potential or actual risks (financial or otherwise) arising and proposing reasonable steps to minimize or eliminate the risk in all dealings with funding entities, project partners, and subcontractors.
  • Organizing the appropriate audits required on a periodic basis on each award by elaborating projects, and financial statements and providing any other information needed to ensure adherence to the applicable regulations, as well as compliance during financial audits, including preparation of budget-recovery claims.
  • Encourage and support internal stakeholders to engage in reporting activities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures for the efficient and effective operation of financial reporting to funding entities.
  • Keeping the VP Innovation and Compliance informed on the status of projects on a regular basis or whenever requested.
  • Responsible for the quality of the outputs of the financial duties listed in the public-funded projects.
  • Team management, including recruiting, assigning, and scheduling employees. Planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions.


Requirements:

  • You have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar position.
  • You have demonstrated experience in financial management and reporting of awards from a range of funding bodies (European Commission, Spanish, and Catalan government, and other European and international bodies and institutions).
  • Experience in managing Social Security rebates and Corporate Tax deductions for R&D projects.
  • You are familiar with the EU landscape (policy and H2020 funding).
  • You have experience and knowledge of EU research funding mechanisms, specifically Horizon 2020 including policy, commercial, financial, and sector-based aspects.
  • You have an excellent knowledge of spoken and written English and Spanish.
  • You have substantial experience in report development.
  • You are an advanced user of MS Office (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • You have previous experience in a technological R+D environment is desired
