What is a remote funder?

Remote Funders are professionals who assess, approve, and process funding or loan applications while working from a remote location, rather than a traditional office. They are commonly found in industries such as real estate, finance, and lending, where they review documentation, verify information, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards before releasing funds. The remote aspect allows for greater flexibility and efficiency, enabling funders to support clients and businesses from anywhere with secure internet access.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote funder, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Funder, you generally need a solid understanding of financial documentation, loan processing, and funding procedures, often supported by experience in mortgage or lending environments. Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS), e-signature platforms, and compliance software is typically required. Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective remote communication set high performers apart in this role. These skills ensure timely and accurate funding, compliance with regulations, and seamless collaboration with stakeholders in a remote setting.

What are some common challenges faced by remote funders, and how can they be effectively managed?

Remote Funders often encounter challenges such as coordinating across different time zones, maintaining clear communication with clients and team members, and ensuring accuracy in document processing without in-person oversight. These issues can be managed by utilizing collaborative project management tools, establishing regular check-ins, and developing standardized processes for document review and approval. Staying organized and proactive in communication are key to successfully navigating the remote nature of the role.

California Regional Center Compliance & Funding ConsultantCalifornia Remote | Fractional 1099 | CA Residency Required

Help Shape Special Strong’s California Expansion
Special Strong is one of the fastest-growing adaptive fitness franchise systems in the U.S., serving children, adults, and veterans with disabilities.
As we expand across California, we are looking for a California Regional Center expert to help our corporate team and franchisees navigate vendorization, funding, compliance, and audit readiness while building scalable systems for long-term growth.
What You’ll Do
• Serve as our subject matter expert on California Regional Centers, DDS, Title 17, the Lanterman Act, vendorization, service codes, funding, SDP, and FMS
• Guide franchisees through vendorization, compliance requirements, audits, and complex Regional Center questions
• Build practical SOPs, templates, documentation standards, and audit readiness systems
• Train and advise franchisees as regulations and requirements evolve
• Partner directly with executive leadership to shape our long-term California strategy
What We’re Looking For
• California resident with direct Regional Center or vendorized provider experience
• Hands-on experience with the vendorization process
• Strong knowledge of Regional Center funding, compliance, service codes, billing, SDP, and FMS
• Ideally 7+ years of relevant experience across multiple Regional Centers
• Ability to turn complex regulations into simple, scalable systems
Compensation
Starts at a $1,000 monthly retainer for an agreed-upon number of advisory hours.
Additional projects and expanded responsibilities are compensated separately. The role is designed to grow as our California footprint expands.
Why Special Strong?
This is more than a consulting assignment. You will have the opportunity to build the compliance foundation for our California expansion, work directly with executive leadership, and use your expertise to help expand services for individuals with disabilities across the state.
If you know the California Regional Center system inside and out and want to help build something at scale, we want to hear from you.

This is a remote position.
