Job description

Oh, hello there master of strategery

Funday is a full service agency made up of people who are friendly and hardworking in equal measure. Inspired by an unrelenting belief that having fun is integral to creativity, we like to say we’re all about fun and brains. You know, that sweet spot between where pretty and performance meet and where insight and imagination produce the entirely unexpected? That’s where we thrive.

Strategist

As a strategist you will report to the Strategy Director. You bring key strategic thinking and guidance to our team. You’ll be comfortable communicating your findings to varying audiences—from your lead to the creative team. You’re skilled in business analysis, qualitative consumer research, and brand and campaign strategy. Most importantly, you live and breathe insights — about a client’s business, their competitors, and their customers.

Location – You will work remotely from anywhere in AB, BC or ON

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with internal teams to perform quantitative and qualitative research
  • Collaborate to monitor social listening and web analytics reports
  • Synthesize research, uncover insights, and write creative briefings for clients and team, to guide the team in the right direction
  • Perform detailed research into our clients, their industries, and their competitors across markets
  • Deconstruct competitive best practices in digital marketing, and create benchmarks
  • Conduct digital ecosystem audits to map a brand’s online presence and assess the effectiveness of each touchpoint
  • Identify opportunities for clients to use digital technology to enhance their overall digital presence and online marketing mix
  • Work across multidisciplinary teams to implement and manage digital strategies
  • Recommend, plan, coordinate, and execute pertinent research and analysis activities, including sector analyses, competitive benchmarking studies, qualitative and consumer research, requirements-gathering sessions, and stakeholder interviews
  • Synthesize and communicate the results of research to clients and project teams
  • Provide insight and perspective on the client’s strategic direction
  • Collaborate with the team on overall strategy development
  • Define measurement strategies for strategy development and site or program optimization
  • Demonstrate the value of integrating strategy services into client engagements
  • Provide thought leadership to colleagues and projects in a range of subjects, including requirements-gathering, consumer research and insight, site measurement and marketing, and strategic planning

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in strategy, brand planning, business analysis, qualitative research or equivalent
  • Experience in a marketing / advertising agency is an asset
  • Experience developing and presenting proposals and presentations for clients
  • Ability to communicate complex subject matter, both verbally and written
  • Experience with qualitative and ethnographic research, driving the creation and implementation of digital design personas
  • Experience in marketing research and sciences to establish and analyze complex studies
  • Excellent collaboration skills and a team-player mindset
  • Strong multi-tasking and flexibility skills
  • A commitment to learning

You’ll want to read this part

  • If you live in Canada, are able to work here, and you are in one of these provinces: BC, AB or ON - please apply! Otherwise, we’re sorry, we’re not set up to support staff outside of these regions.
  • Please note: we post the same role in multiple locations to help us cast a wide net. Applying to each location for a posting will not increase your chances. Now that we've saved you some time, go do something fun!
  • This posting is for an existing vacancy we are looking to fill immediately and not a prospective future role (i.e. we’re saying this isn’t a ghost job)

Come be a Funatic

We believe you won’t perform at your best if you’re not having fun. And you can’t have fun if you’re not performing. We believe this creates the best client + agency relationships and is the best way to make great work.

We believe in respect, inclusivity, kindness, equity, and equality. We want to make a positive impact. We believe that collaboration is the fun part of being at work. We strive to create a culture in which “we” is more important than “me”.
Apart from loving terrible fun puns, we’re small and we’re growing – which means you’ll have a chance to make your mark and grow with us. We’re also 100% remote, and that might not appeal to everyone – but if you value flexibility, it’s perfect.
