Job description

Employee Fiduciary LLC is a fast-growing leader in providing affordable, expertly managed 401(k) plans. Our services are designed to make plan administration transparent and stress-free for business owners. We pride ourselves on exceptional service and innovative solutions, and we believe that every dollar spent should deliver a measurable return on investment.
Position Summary
We are currently seeking a full-time Senior ERISA Compliance Analyst to join our Compliance Department. The Compliance Department performs year-end nondiscrimination testing and Form 5500 reporting, prepares and maintains plan documents, and provides ERISA technical support for our clients' retirement plans.
This is a fully remote position based out of our headquarters in Mobile, AL, and it reports to the Director of Compliance.
This position is eligible to participate in the Company's benefit plans, including:
  • Generous paid time off
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Group life insurance
  • Company-paid short- and long-term disability benefits
  • 401(k) plan
  • Professional development and certification support
  • And more!

Position Summary:
To independently manage the full lifecycle of compliance testing, government reporting, and plan document work for a mixed caseload of plans, including plans with complex provisions. The Analyst II operates with meaningful autonomy on routine matters, exercises emerging judgment on non-standard situations, and is expected to train and support Compliance Analyst staff as a first point of technical escalation within the team.
Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).
  • Independently perform all annual nondiscrimination testing for plans, including plans with complex designs
  • Prepare and review Form 5500 filings for larger plans and those with higher complexity
  • Draft plan amendments for safe harbor addition/removal, eligibility changes, allocation changes, as well as prepare the initial adoption agreement for new plans.
  • Serve as the primary compliance contact for assigned relationship managers
  • Train and mentor Compliance Analysts on testing methodologies, filing procedures, and firm workflows; may conduct initial quality review of Compliance Analyst work product before submission to senior reviewers
  • Identify emerging compliance issues in assigned plans (e.g., operational failures, missed amendments, late contributions) and recommend corrective actions
  • Collect, validate, and reconcile census data and payroll records, resolving data discrepancies independently and escalating systemic data issues to the Director
  • Participate in the development and refinement of internal procedures, checklists, and training materials to improve consistency and efficiency
  • Develop and maintain proficiency with all software necessary to perform job duties, particularly Ft William and Relius applications
  • Meet production standards as established, with increasing emphasis on quality metrics, mentorship contributions, and client communication effectiveness in addition to volume

Requirements
Skills, knowledge and abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).
  • Working knowledge of ERISA Title I, Internal Revenue Code Sections 401(a), 401(k), 401(m), 410(b), 414(s), 415, and 416 as applied to defined contribution plans
  • Ability to apply nondiscrimination testing rules and plan document provisions accurately across varying plan designs without relying exclusively on software defaults
  • Recognizes when a plan's facts deviate from standard assumptions and determines when to escalate versus resolve independently
  • Effectively coaches newer analysts by explaining not just how to complete tasks, but why the regulatory framework requires specific approaches
  • Translates technical compliance results into clear, actionable guidance for plan sponsor contacts who may lack ERISA expertise
  • Identifies opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and documentation quality within the team
  • Takes full accountability for assigned caseload quality and timeliness, proactively flagging risks before they become problems
  • Advanced Excel skills with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot data discrepancies and reconcile census information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, human resources, or a related field is preferred
  • 3-7 years of direct experience in retirement plan compliance testing, Form 5500 preparation, or plan document administration within a TPA, recordkeeper, benefits consulting firm, or law firm
  • Experience with at least one major retirement plan administration software platform (e.g., Relius, Ft William, ASC, Datair)
  • ASPPA RPF designation achieved or in progress; QKA or other ASPPA/NIPA credentials preferred
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, is required

Work Location:
  • Remote work environment
