Join our Water Services team and play a vital role in planning, reviewing, and delivering the essential water and wastewater infrastructure that supports our growing community. As a Water Services Plan Reviewer, you'll collaborate with developers, engineers, contractors, government agencies, and City staff to ensure projects meet engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and City policies. From reviewing technical plans and managing utility projects to providing exceptional customer service and representing Water Services throughout the development process, you'll help deliver reliable infrastructure that protects public health, supports sustainable growth, and makes a lasting impact on the Flagstaff community. Examples of the Work Performed
  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Reviews plats, construction plans, and design reports submitted by the developer's engineers for conformance to City standards and specifications, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, and generally accepted engineering principles as well as policies prescribed by the Water Services Director.
  • Researches and prepares utility staff background and recommendation reports.
  • Proficiency with the City's water and sewer hydraulic models.
  • Prepares technical information and performs calculations for inclusion into the Water Sewer Impact Analysis (WSIA) developer reports for review by the Engineering Section Director.
  • Acts as project manager on utility projects; assigned projects are of a routine to moderately complex nature.
  • Coordinates utility projects with various government agencies, developers, contractors, and City staff.
  • Reviews contractor and consultant pay requests.
  • Handles citizen complaints and suggestions relating to Water Services projects.
  • Works with Customer Service to review invoices for meter and capacity fee payments to Water Services.
  • Attends and represents Water Services concerns at the Development Review Board, as assigned.
  • Assists developers, contractors, and the general public with City policies, procedures, and general problems that may come up in regard to a Water Services project.
  • Reviews environmental assessments for Water Services projects.
  • Performs related duties associated with utility programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, hydrology, environmental sciences, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of related experience in water/wastewater systems design, project management (including contract administration), plan reviews, or closely related engineering, inspection, or construction functions.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Any combination of relevant education and relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Minimum requirements such as driver's license and certifications may not be substituted and are required at time of hire.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  • Design experience, especially as it relates to water, wastewater, and public works systems.
