Investment Engineering is part of the Investments Team within Dimensional. The group is responsible for investment data and its analysis analysis tools, managing it from acquisition to distribution, driving analysis to synthesize information, and creating the information and analysis consumed by internal and external clients and reports. Investment Engineering is a hub group touching numerous areas of the implementation of the investment process and interacting with most other departments within Dimensional.

Within Investment Engineering, the Portfolio Engineering team works with the Portfolio Management and Technology teams on the systems that implement Dimensional's portfolios.

The team seeks a Senior Associate capable of supporting key initiatives underpinning our daily investment process. This is a software engineering role, covering system design, implementation and maintenance from "soup to nuts" within a team focused environment. Success in the role will mean being acutely aware of our development processes, delivery pipelines and support needs, and actively identifying opportunities for improvement. Strong candidates will have expertise in relational databases, transactional messaging and component-based front ends. The team is responsible for a platform level product that serves as the main interface between portfolio managers and their portfolios. This position can be either hybrid in-office or fully remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand user requests and move them to concrete designs that meet needs of the broader userbase.This means asking questions when requests arrive to move from a solution to the right solution based on complexity, cost, timeframe and maintenance.

  • Move designs to implementation, including creating databases, schemas, APIs, processing services, schedules, asynchronous pipelines, component code, style sheets, etc. This is a full stack position.

  • Write software in a collaborative environment, participate in code reviews and design sessions, and mentor junior team members.

  • Participate in our support triage process to assist the front-line support team. This means implementing our systems with supportability in mind, and a willingness to fill in the gaps if our system falls short.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

  • Component based front-end experience. (Angular, React, Vue, Svelte, etc)

  • Database experience, preferably with Microsoft Sql Server or similar.

  • OOP experience with C#, Java, etc.

  • Experience with Material design and Angular Material in particular.

  • Experience working with large datasets, including computational code.

  • A desire to continue learning about the craft of software and investment management.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Intellectual curiosity combined with attention to detail.

Exceptional Candidates will Display:

  • Experience and interest in investments and the investment process.

  • Expertise in optimization at all levels of a stack.

  • Experience with module federation and other techniques of creating micro frontends.

  • Expertise in caching strategies using redis/ related technologies.

  • Experience with message based and event-driven systems.

  • UX and UI Design knowledge and experience.
