Job description

RRC is seeking a talented Transmission Line Engineer IV to help us build the future of both U.S. and Canada energy production from both remote work locations and any one of our U.S. or Canadian office locations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide senior-level guidance of transmission line engineering and project management principles to carry out project tasks while working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Design transmission lines in the 69 kV to 500 kV range. Review and approve designs generated by other peers.
  • Ensure designs meet project specifications, design requirements, and company quality standards.
  • Champion the consistent application and compliance with industry standards, codes, and engineering guidelines throughout all stages of transmission line projects.
  • Contribute to the creation, improvement, and implementation of internal design procedures and standards.
  • Mentor and train engineering team members, share technical expertise and support professional development.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving all project models and documentation and serve as a Responsible in Charge.
  • Perform value engineering design analyses to determine the most cost-competitive design.
  • Participate in project site visits as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelorโ€™s in engineering in Civil/Structural, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related transmission line engineering experience.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the US.
  • Proficiency in using PLS-CADD for designing transmission lines.
  • Strong knowledge with design codes, standards, and guidelines such as NESC, RUS, IEEE, ASCE 7, ASCE 48, ASCE 74, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Prior experience in foundation design using FAD Tools and/or LPile.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to coordinate with other disciplines to ensure a cohesive project design.
  • Proven ability to work independently and thrive in a dynamic, evolving, and deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience collaborating, communicating, and coordinating with project stakeholders including internal interdisciplinary SMEs, clients, vendors, contractors, etc.
  • Must be highly organized to manage detailed project information and prioritize tasks.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word analyze and communicate design information.
  • Must be willing to travel to project locations for short durations (typically one to two days per trip) around the Canada or U.S.
  • Must be authorized for full-time work in Canada or the United States.
  • Able or willing to lead a team of engineers and designers in completing multiple projects concurrently and ensuring company quality standards preferred.
  • Experience with transmission line voltages at 500 kV and above preferred.
  • Experience with underground medium to extra high voltage line designs preferred
  • Transmission line electrical studies including but not limited to EMF, insulation coordination, lightning protection, corona effects, etc. preferred.
  • Proficiency in PLS-TOWERย preferred.
  • Experience in developing engineering proposals and cost estimates preferred.
  • Experience in testing specifications preferred.
