As a Senior Capability Manager / Release Train Engineer (RTE) within the commercial organization, you will serve as a strategic delivery leader, Agile coach, facilitator, and change agent responsible for enabling successful execution across multiple Agile teams and Agile Release Trains (ARTs). You will partner with Product, Technology, and Business leaders within Optum Financial to improve delivery predictability, optimize portfolio execution, remove organizational impediments, and leverage AI-enabled capabilities to enhance decision-making and business outcomes. This role offers an opportunity to influence delivery at scale, drive organizational transformation, and help shape the future of healthcare technology delivery.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead delivery across multiple Agile teams and ARTs, ensuring predictable, high-quality execution aligned to portfolio and product roadmaps
  • Partner with Product and Technology leadership to maintain healthy backlogs, roadmap alignment, and effective PI planning outcomes
  • Monitor delivery performance using Agile metrics (e.g., throughput, cycle time, velocity) and drive continuous improvement
  • Facilitate portfolio-level ceremonies (e.g., Scrum of Scrums, PI Planning, risk reviews) to enable alignment and decision-making Create transparency by radiating delivery metrics, risks, dependencies, and progress across teams and leadership
  • Mentor Scrum Masters, Agile Coaches, and teams through coaching, workshops, and hands-on guidance
  • Drive adoption and scaling of Agile principles, practices, and frameworks across the organization
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and insights to improve backlog readiness, prioritization, dependency
  • Drive cross-team and cross-ART dependency management to ensure seamless delivery
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and DevOps practices Lead organization-level improvements to Agile maturity, delivery efficiency, and operating model effectiveness
  • Model servant leadership by empowering teams, enabling accountability, and fostering healthy collaboration and conflict resolution
  • Promote a high-performing, inclusive Agile culture aligned with organizational values Ensure accuracy and governance of Agile tooling, delivery data, and capacity tracking
  • Provide leadership visibility into portfolio health, performance trends, and key risks
  • Partner with leadership to support demand and capacity planning, forecasting, and team structure optimization
  • Stay current on Agile, Lean, and AI advancements and promote knowledge sharing across the organization Contribute to communities of practice, training, and thought leadership initiatives

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare, managed care, health insurance, business operations, software delivery, or application development
  • 5+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master, Product Owner, Release Train Engineer (RTE), Agile Coach, or Agile Team Lead
  • Experience leading Agile delivery across multiple teams, products, programs, or Agile Release Trains
  • Experience influencing stakeholders and driving performance in both direct and matrixed organizations
  • Experience facilitating PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, cross-functional planning, and portfolio-level delivery activities

Preferred Qualifications:
  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), SAFe Agilist, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), PMI-ACP, or equivalent Agile certification
  • Experience supporting healthcare payer, provider, payment, claims, enrollment, or consumer engagement solutions
  • Experience leading Agile transformations, portfolio delivery organizations, or large-scale operating model improvements

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $112,700 - $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
