Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking a Logistics Manager to join our Supply Chain team.


This position may be performed remotely or on-site at a Saab, Inc. office location.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an enterprise logistics leader within the Supply Chain Management team, reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, with responsibility for developing and executing logistics strategies across multiple U.S. locations and programs.
  • Develop and execute enterprise-level logistics strategies supporting DoD, FAA, and commercial programs, including domestic and international transportation, freight programs, and material movement requirements.
  • Establish, maintain, and optimize global material movement strategies in collaboration with Supply Chain, Materials, Programs, Trade Compliance, Quality, Manufacturing, and other functional organizations.
  • Develop and manage effective freight, freight forwarding, 3PL, and carrier programs, including service provider evaluation, performance management, and cost optimization.
  • Evaluate logistics structures, transportation strategies, and service provider performance to improve deliveries, receipts, and outbound freight while reducing operational risk and total logistics costs.
  • Establish, implement, and improve standardized logistics processes, SOPs, KPIs, and governance practices to promote consistency, visibility, compliance, and operational effectiveness across the logistics function.
  • Lead complex logistics initiatives and cross-functional improvement efforts from strategy through execution, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, mitigate risk, and enhance supply chain performance.
  • Monitor the movement of assigned materials throughout the supply chain from origin to final delivery, aligning logistics execution with operational requirements established by Supply Chain Planning and Supplier Program Managers (SPM).
  • Facilitate and maintain communication with SPM team members, 3PLs, carriers, brokers, government agencies, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful material movements and resolution of complex logistics issues.
  • Ensure company-wide compliance with logistics procedures, including import and export shipping requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic partner to cross-functional teams, leading through influence and collaboration without formal people-management authority.
  • Travel domestically as required, up to 10% annually.

Syracuse, NY, West Lafayette, IN, Orlando, FL, Grayling, MI, or Auburn Hills, MI: $132,000 - $171,600
Bristol, RI, or Cranston, RI: $145,100 - $188,700
Ashburn, VA, Washington, D.C., or Quincy, MA: $158,500 - $205,900

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Supply Chain or Logistics) with 10+ years of relevant experience in logistics strategy, import and export compliance requirements, customs regulations, international and domestic logistics, transportation, and freight program development; or a Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing logistics strategies across multiple locations, programs, or business functions.
  • Experience developing and managing freight, 3PL, carrier, or freight forwarding programs, including cost optimization and performance improvement.
  • Experience establishing and improving logistics processes, SOPs, KPIs, and governance practices.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functional organizations.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably Oracle.
  • Strong analytical aptitude with the ability to analyze and interpret data and use insights to drive logistics decisions and improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to lead complex initiatives, multitask, and support concurrent requirements for multiple internal and external customers.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and lead through influence without formal people-management authority.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the aerospace/defense industry.
