Forward Deployed Engineer / Solution ArchitectAbout Edge Case

Our products define and measure safety in autonomous systems, helping transform innovation into responsibly deployed technology.

The Forward Deployed Engineer / Solution Architect plays a key role in bringing our safety platform into real-world autonomy programs by working directly with customers and partnering closely with our internal engineering and safety engineering teams.


What You Will Do

As a Forward Deployed Engineer / Solution Architect, you will lead the deployment, integration, and operational use of Edge Case’s safety platform in customer environments. You will embed with customer engineering and safety teams to understand their systems, workflows, and mission needs. Your work ensures that customers adopt the platform successfully and achieve measurable safety outcomes.

This role blends technical engineering expertise, program management, and customer engagement. You will coordinate across Edge Case engineering teams and safety engineering experts to deliver scalable and effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end to end deployment of the Edge Case safety platform, including configuration, integration, and onboarding across complex customer systems
     
  • Embed with customer teams to understand autonomy architectures, data flows, and safety workflows, and translate those into actionable plans
     
  • Design and implement data pipelines, APIs, instrumentation, and integrations required to operationalize the platform
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues across software, infrastructure, and system boundaries
     
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and safety engineering experts to ensure solutions meet customer needs and scale effectively
     
  • Develop repeatable processes, documentation, and best practices that improve customer onboarding and deployment efficiency
     

Required Qualifications
  • Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition of employment. ECR will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
     
  • 5 or more years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, technical program management, or forward deployed or solutions engineering roles
     
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, physics, or a related technical field
     
  • Authorization to work in the United States with no visa sponsorship
     
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience in Python, C++, or similar languages
     
  • Experience deploying, integrating, or supporting complex technical systems, ideally within safety critical or high reliability environments
     
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional programs and manage technical stakeholders
     
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non technical teams
     
  • Comfortable operating in fast paced environments with shifting priorities
     
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites
     

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, robotics, or other regulated industries
     
  • Background in safety critical systems, autonomy, machine learning infrastructure, simulation, or digital engineering
     
  • Experience with enterprise deployments, data integrations, platform architectures, APIs, or SDKs
     
  • Familiarity with safety standards such as UL 4600, ISO 26262, DO 178C, or MIL STD 882
     
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to navigate interdisciplinary technical challenges
     
  • Ability to engage in architecture discussions and influence technical decisions

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position is $155,000.00 - $175,000.00. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Edge Case considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Washington state applicants only: Full-time employees accrue at least 13 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; and receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
