Remote Fly Fishing Instructor information

What does a Remote Fly Fishing Instructor do?

A Remote Fly Fishing Instructor teaches individuals or groups the skills and techniques of fly fishing through virtual platforms, such as video calls or online courses. They provide guidance on equipment selection, casting methods, knot tying, and reading water conditions, all tailored to remote learning. The instructor may offer personalized feedback based on videos or live demonstrations, answer questions, and help clients improve their fishing knowledge and skills from anywhere in the world.

What is the difference between Remote Fly Fishing Instructor vs Fly Fishing Guide?

AspectRemote Fly Fishing InstructorFly Fishing Guide
CredentialsFly fishing certifications, teaching skillsFishing licenses, local knowledge
Work EnvironmentOnline, virtual lessons, remote coachingOn-site at fishing locations, in the field
Employer & Industry UsageOnline education platforms, private clientsFishing lodges, tour companies, local outfitters

The main difference is that a Remote Fly Fishing Instructor provides online, virtual lessons and coaching, focusing on teaching techniques and skills remotely. In contrast, a Fly Fishing Guide works in the field, leading clients on fishing trips and providing hands-on guidance at specific locations. Both roles require fly fishing knowledge, but their work environments and methods differ significantly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Fly Fishing Instructor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Fly Fishing Instructor, you need in-depth knowledge of fly fishing techniques, local fish species, and safety protocols, often supported by certifications such as CPR/First Aid and angling instructor credentials. Familiarity with virtual teaching platforms, video conferencing tools, and digital content creation is also important for remote instruction. Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to motivate and engage students are essential soft skills. These competencies ensure effective teaching, a safe learning environment, and positive client experiences, even in a virtual setting.

How does a Remote Fly Fishing Instructor effectively engage and teach students without in-person interaction?

As a Remote Fly Fishing Instructor, you'll leverage video conferencing tools, instructional videos, and live demonstrations to teach casting techniques, knot tying, and reading water conditions. A key challenge is adapting hands-on lessons to a virtual format, so strong communication skills and creative use of camera angles or visual aids are essential. You'll often provide personalized feedback by reviewing student-submitted videos and offering real-time coaching during virtual sessions. Collaboration with other instructors or support staff may also be part of your role, especially when organizing group workshops or addressing diverse student needs.

Job description

Unqork empowers enterprises to accelerate growth by rapidly building, testing, and running AI-powered applications that embody the future of enterprise development. Trusted by the world's largest organizations in highly regulated industries, these applications become more secure over time while significantly reducing technical debt-allowing businesses to focus on innovation rather than maintenance. Unqork's customers include Goldman Sachs, Marsh, BlackRock, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
At Unqork, we value inclusive and innovative thinkers who boldly challenge the status quo. We encourage you to apply!
We are seeking an autonomous, high-energy Senior Technical Trainer to join our Enablement team. In this role, you will be the face of Unqork Academy, taking complex, abstract architectural concepts making them highly digestible, and continuously pivoting your delivery based on real-time learner data and coaching feedback You will independently own and deliver world-class technical workshops to a diverse ecosystem of enterprise customers, global strategic partners (GSIs), and internal employees-turning them into certified Unqork Creators.
The Impact U will make:
  • Dynamic Facilitation: Lead highly engaging, instructor-led technical workshops, bootcamps, and certification prep for customers, global partners, and internal teams that utilize active learning strategies and continuous formative assessments to verify learner understanding before advancing. Mostly remote with some in-person delivery.
  • Curriculum Design Support: Actively collaborate as a strategic partner with the internal instructional design team, providing structured, actionable feedback from the field (e.g., sticking points, content gaps, curriculum efficacy) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Be a Platform Expert: Develop a deep, structural understanding of Unqork's platform to confidently field complex technical questions around data orchestration, workflows, and integrations on the fly.
  • Drive Partner Scale: Enable our systems integrators ensuring their technical teams have the practical capability to build and deploy scalable enterprise solutions on Unqork.
  • Measure & Optimize: Collect data and feedback from training cohorts to continuously elevate the effectiveness of the Unqork Academy experience.
What U bring:
  • 5+ years of experience as a technical trainer, developer educator, enablement specialist, or solutions engineer within a fast-paced SaaS or enterprise software environment.
  • Deep, practical foundation in adult learning theory (andragogy) and instructional delivery styles. You know how to keep enterprise architects and developers engaged for hours using interactive facilitation techniques rather than static lecturing.
  • You're a dynamic, captivating facilitator who coaches rather than lectures, commands a room through engagement, and genuinely enjoys the art of teaching..
  • You have a growth mindset. You're highly receptive to feedback, with a proven track record of actively adapting your instructional delivery based on peer coaching, quality reviews, and learner evaluations.
  • High technical aptitude; while Unqork is codeless, the underlying logic is highly technical. You must be comfortable navigating and explaining concepts like web services, data modeling, and RESTful APIs.
  • Fierce independence and adaptability; you thrive in a remote-first layout, take complete ownership of your schedule, and pivot seamlessly when platform features or cohort dynamics shift.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% for high-value, on-site client deployments or partner enablement events.
  • An AI-forward mindset: You are an avid user of AI tools and are passionate about exploring how AI can automate workflows, enhance creativity, and increase your personal impact.
