Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for consulting with Clients to fulfill their engineering requirements for the life cycle of their

projects. The Senior Mechanical Engineer must be self-motivated with a proven record of excellent project delivery to lead several projects. The consultation will include mechanical design and commissioning for the client's projects. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be involved in multiple projects simultaneously, with projects at different stages, at any given time. The
Senior Mechanical Engineer is expected to handle most job functions without technical assistance and work under the CEO's general supervision. The Senior Mechanical Engineer should be able to provide mentorship and technically oversee the work performed by junior engineers as required by the CEO. In
In addition, the Senior Mechanical Engineer is required to assist with business development and sales, including developing client relationships, soliciting new work, and preparing project proposals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with existing and potential clients to solicit new business.
  • Prepare documents related to business development, such as responses to RFQ and RFP and proposals.
  • Conceptual and detailed specification and design of mission-critical mechanical systems for critical facilities, including but not limited to data centers, financial institutions, e-commerce institutions, and other central plant campus-type projects.
  • Produce and/or coordinate designs from schematic design development to the contract document phase of the projects.
  • Design mission-critical mechanical systems such as HVAC, fire protection, controls, and plumbing.
  • Provide code analysis and recommendations to maintain mechanical code compliance for all relevant projects.
  • Have extensive knowledge of ASHRAE, AHRI, ASME, ANSI, and NFPA.
  • Utilizes software tools such as Trane Trace and Future Facilities CFD to perform ASHRAE design calculations and Studies.
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations to prepare project documents.
  • Utilizes software tools such as REVIT and AutoCAD to prepare Drawings and Sketches.
  • Coordinate project tasks with the project team to complete the project on schedule
  • Conduct work sessions virtually or travel to the project site to collaborate on projects with stakeholders.
  • Review mechanical documents to resolve areas of conflict with all disciplines.
  • Continuously improve and edit mechanical specifications and equipment selection process for mechanical systems and devices.
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders, and take responsibility for incorporating agreed-upon changes into the project documents on the project leading.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Mechanical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers in Training or

Mechanical BIM Specialists as needed

  • Work independently on larger projects while coordinating with other project team members.

Work in coordination with the design project team to modify the detailed design to rectify nonconformance of design intent and existing field conditions.

  • Prepare commissioning documents related to commissioning projects to prepare, conduct and close out.
  • Perform commissioning tasks required to complete the commissioning project.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting of ongoing client facility operations, as required
  • Participates in project meetings internally and externally as Project Manager to ensure client's needs are met.

RELATIONS

The Senior Mechanical Engineer maintains relationships with the Argo team, other business partners, and clients, adhering to Argo guidelines. Mechanical Engineers also maintain direct contact with other
Engineering, Project Management, and Argo operations team, serving as the focal point of communication for different groups related to client services.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional Engineering license
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Fifteen years of related experience or equivalent experience in an engineering-related position
  • Proficient in the use of various Mechanical Engineering analysis software packages
  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel, and other software tools as required for the job
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail as well as technical writing and documentation skills
  • Subject Matter Expert in industry codes and standards applicable to the MEP critical systems industry
  • Ability to cope with fast-paced, rapidly changing project requirements.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact with clients and provide assistance to project stakeholders.
  • General understanding of projects, contracts terms, concepts, and terminology
  • Must be highly motivated, customer focused, able to prioritize, detailed, capable of multitasking, and able to follow through on all tasks to completion
  • Travel for Project activities such as surveys, field visits, meetings, project closeout, and commissioning will be required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional virtual office environment (100% WFH). This organization promotes sustainability by operating paperless. This role routinely uses office equipment such as computers, phones, and tablets. The job also operates in critical client environments such as active data centers and other facilities. The ability to move between settings is vital for this role.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This position is full-time, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Overtime hours are often required depending on the project phase and schedule, including weekends and evening work.

TRAVEL

Frequent day trips and some overnight travel to domestic destinations will be expected for this position.
