REMOTE ECOMMERCE SALES TAX ACCOUNTANT

LedgerGurus is looking to hire a full-time eCommerce sales tax accountant who lives anywhere in the state of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Florida, Kansas or Arizona! Do you love tax but hate the stress during tax season?  Or are you an accountant who wants to learn something new and broaden your accounting knowledge? Small and medium-sized businesses hire us to become their accounting department or to work with their existing finance team. eCommerce is a new realm of accounting, and we are one of the few that are specializing in this area. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A REMOTE SALES TAX ACCOUNTANT

  • 3+ years of professional experience
  • Have a solid grasp on technology and learn how to navigate new programs easily
  • Ability and confidence to troubleshoot independently
  • Confident and strong written and verbal communication skills to correspond with other teams and clients
  • Desire to learn eCommerce sales tax accounting

A Bachelors degree in accounting or finance is preferred.  Experience with QuickBooks or knowledge of state and federal sales tax laws and requirements will also be enticing. Experience with Sales Tax software (i.e. Avalara, TaxJar) is a major plus.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REMOTE SALES TAX ACCOUNTANT

As a remote eCommerce accountant for LedgerGurus, you will be a valued member of our Sales Tax team. The main objective of this role is to help and own the responsibility of filings. You will prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting as well as prepare and transmit accurate and timely sales and use tax returns to jurisdictions in accordance with the client tax calendar.  You will do state registrations and de-registrations and reconcile payments made on behalf of the client. You will proactively communicate with the client to help resolve their sales tax questions and concerns, as well as work with the assigned accounting manager.  With your strong Excel and technology skills, you will be able to troubleshoot independently when problems arise. We want someone who loves to troubleshoot problems, dig in and manipulate data, and who understands how eCommerce accounting fits into the big picture of a client's financial statements.

We know many don't come with this knowledge, so we will train you!  With an assigned mentor and extremely supportive management, you will become a strong member of the sales tax team.   You will be able to work virtually with others across the company as well as become an expert in eCommerce sales and use tax.  This brings a unique set of skills that are not common in the accounting world and will make yourself a crucial part of the LedgerGurus team!

WORK SCHEDULE

This position offers full-time work at 40 hours a week. We offer flexible scheduling with 5 hours during normal business hours needed every weekday, and the freedom to dictate the additional time. Meaning you have the flexibility and freedom to dictate when other work can be completed. All of our employees work remote from home 100% of the time!
