Job description

Our Senior Account Executive is responsible for acquiring and expanding employer group business across WPS commercial products in the middle to large group market segment and expanding market share within their assigned territory. This Sr Account Executive serves a trusted advisor, building relationships with larger brokers, benefits consultants, and key employer group leaders. They bring deep industry expertise, consultative sales skills, and a track record of exceeding growth targets.
Salary Range$90,000 ~ $120,000 plus incentive bonusesThe base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Work LocationRemote work within Wisconsin, this role will travel throughout WI. Employees within 45 miles of WPS Headquarters (1717 W. Broadway in Madison, WI, 53713) will be expected to be able to work in office 3 days a week on a regular basis.
Essential Functions include:
  • Competitive Intelligence - Provides market and competitive intelligence to inform health plan actions and priorities.
  • Business Development - Hunts for new logo accounts, generates leads, and establishes strategic partnerships with brokers and employers. Manages a pipeline of high-value broker and employer relationships.
  • Sales Strategies - Develops and implements innovative sales strategies that accelerate growth, increase customer satisfaction/retention, drive market share, and optimize financial performance. Prioritizes and leverages broker and agency contacts to ensure a consistent and sustainable flow of target market business. Tracks and measures progress against goals, and adjusts sales strategies/tactics as needed.
  • Consultative Selling - Educates and answers questions from prospective customers on WPS's commercial products/offerings. Identifies and leverages data and technology to achieve goals, improve performance, and minimize costs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partners with key internal stakeholders (including Underwriting, Health Services, Network, Account Management, Product and Marketing) and external stakeholders (including TPA, PBM and stop loss partners) to resolve complex client issues and achieve the health plan's growth, retention and profitability goals.
  • Proposal Strategy and Development - Assesses business risks/opportunities and identifies strategies to mitigate/capitalize as appropriate. Designs competitive, data-driven benefit solutions, analyzes healthcare utilization trends, and presents cost-benefit analyses to senior executives and HR leaders.
  • Sales Cycle Management - Drives long sales cycles (often 6-18 months) and meets or exceeds monthly/annual sales targets.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Valid Wisconsin Accident & Health producer license.
  • 7 or more years of insurance field sales experience.
  • Experience selling for Health Insurance, Rx, or Stop Loss with a Carrier, Third Party Administrator or as Benefits Consultant from an Insurance Agency.
  • Proficiency in negotiation and persuasion.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing insurance data analytics to drive agent strategy.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel within the state of Wisconsin - up to 75%.
  • Valid driver's license with no moving violations or accidents in last three years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a complex, rapidly evolving environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong broker/employer relationships in assigned Wisconsin territories.
  • Experience working in a CRM (e.g. MS Dynamics).
  • A track record of success meeting aggressive sales goals.
