Remote Figure Drawing Model information

What is a remote figure drawing model?

Remote figure drawing models are individuals who pose for artists virtually, typically using video conferencing software or live streaming platforms. They provide a variety of poses, often in different durations and attire, to help artists practice and improve their drawing skills. Unlike traditional figure drawing sessions held in studios, remote models work from their own space and connect with artists around the world. This setup offers flexibility and accessibility for both models and participants. Remote figure drawing is popular among art schools, workshops, and independent artists.

How does a remote figure drawing model typically interact with artists during virtual sessions?

Remote figure drawing models usually work through video conferencing platforms, where they pose live for groups or individual artists. Clear communication is essential; models often receive pose requests or timing cues via chat or voice from session hosts or artists. A reliable internet connection and a well-lit, neutral background are important for delivering a clear visual reference. While models work independently from their own space, they are part of a collaborative experience, helping artists improve their skills and often receiving real-time feedback.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote figure drawing model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Figure Drawing Model, you need a strong sense of body awareness, the ability to hold poses for extended periods, and reliable internet access, typically with some prior experience or training in figure modeling or life drawing settings. Familiarity with video conferencing platforms (such as Zoom or Skype) and proper lighting and camera setup are important technical requirements. Professionalism, punctuality, and comfort with remote communication are essential soft skills that help build trust with artists and organizers. These skills ensure that sessions run smoothly and efficiently, allowing artists to capture accurate references in a virtual environment.

What is the difference between Remote Figure Drawing Model vs Remote Life Drawing Instructor?

AspectRemote Figure Drawing ModelRemote Life Drawing Instructor
CredentialsNone typically required, but artistic portfolio may be neededArt teaching certification or experience often preferred
Work EnvironmentPhotographed or live models in studio or online settingsOnline classroom or workshop platforms
Employer & IndustryArt studios, online art platforms, freelanceArt schools, online education platforms, freelance instructor

Remote Figure Drawing Models primarily pose for artists or students without teaching responsibilities, focusing on providing accurate anatomy references. Remote Life Drawing Instructors, on the other hand, teach or guide students in drawing from live or posed models. While both roles involve art and anatomy, models focus on posing, whereas instructors focus on teaching and guiding art practice remotely.

How much do remote figure drawing models get paid?

Remote figure drawing models typically earn between $15 and $50 per hour, depending on experience, the organization, and the session length. Pay rates can vary based on whether the work is freelance or through an agency, and models often need to provide their own space and equipment for remote sessions.

How to become a remote figure drawing model?

To become a remote figure drawing model, you typically need to create a portfolio or sample images to demonstrate your ability to hold poses and maintain stability. Many remote modeling opportunities are found through online art communities, modeling websites, or social media platforms where artists seek live or recorded reference images. Consistent practice, good communication skills, and understanding of pose duration and lighting are also beneficial.

We're expanding our team to address the challenges and opportunities of the publishing industry while continuing to help readers find stories and authors they'll love. Check out BookBub and our audiobooks retailing platform, Chirp, and learn more about what to expect working at our company.

About the position

Chirp has built a fast-growing business around a simple idea: huge audiobook deals without commitments. Paid acquisition is core to how we grow, and we're looking for a Growth Marketing Manager to join our small, high-output consumer growth team. We're seeking a performance-oriented digital marketer with 2-5 years of experience. You'll own the customer acquisition strategy, implementation, optimization, and reporting for various paid marketing channels. You understand the consumer journey and love testing new ads, audiences, and landing pages to continuously improve performance. You're comfortable with achieving ambitious goals and taking ownership of our marketing approach and results.

Responsibilities include:
  • Manage, optimize, and own day-to-day operations of 2-3 paid marketing channels including targeting, bidding, budgeting, account structure, etc. You'll inherit established Meta and/or Google campaigns and lead expansion into and testing of new channels
  • Work closely with leadership to shape long-term channel strategy and influence roadmap prioritization
  • Create and optimize ads, write headlines and copy, and collaborate with our design team on creative to improve channel performance
  • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to scale existing campaigns and test new acquisition strategies across emerging platforms
  • Create and maintain dashboards of advertising performance metrics, analyze the impact of marketing channels, and represent insights/learnings cross-functionally
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects with analytics, product, engineering, and design to meet ambitious growth targets, ensuring timely execution, nimble adaptation, and delivery of key learnings
  • Design and execute conversion optimization tests across our digital experience
Ideal candidates for this position will have:
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in growth or performance marketing at a high-growth consumer brand or performance agency
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Meta Ads and one additional paid media platform (e.g. Google Ads, TikTok Ads, Pinterest Ads, LiveIntent, AppLovin), with experience optimizing ad campaigns for efficiency (e.g. CPA, CAC, ROAS)
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to interpret data; proficient in Excel and familiar with BI tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to grow your scope alongside the company
  • Experience working with web analytics, A/B testing tools, and ad tracking
Salary & benefits

The anticipated salary range for this role is $80,000-$115,000. The salary offer will be commensurate with experience, and will be adjusted within or around this range based on the candidate who ultimately joins our team. Total compensation also includes stock option awards and competitive benefit options including medical, dental, vision, 401k, generous paid parental leave, and take-what-you-need paid time off.

Remote work flexibility

Please note: for this role, we are considering candidates who are located in the following states: MA, NY, RI, ME, PA, IL, and MD.

Our team has choose-where-you-work flexibility that allows you to choose a predominantly remote, hybrid, or in-office setup at our office in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We'll help each team member figure out the work set up that's best for them, including WFH equipment or a dedicated desk space in our office.

Most of our teams currently operate with a hybrid model, with some people working full- or part-time from the office, and some from home. We value and prioritize collaboration across mediums and spaces, and we invest in ensuring that meetings and other forms of collaboration are set up with equal access regardless of where you work.
