Application & Data Engineer - React/Snowflake/Azure
We are hiring an Application & Data Engineering contractor to support web application development, data engineering, ETL pipeline development, and backend database integration within the Azure Commercial Cloud environment.
This role will work closely with applications, data, platform, and business teams to build and support cloud-based business applications using Azure Web Apps, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, SQL Server, Redis cache, and modern UI/API development technologies.
MUST HAVES:
- React is the most important required skill
- 5+ years of Application Engineering AND Data Engineering experience
- Experience developing application user interfaces using React (this is the most important required skill)
- Backend API development experience using .NET Core, Node.js, Python FastAPI, or similar frameworks
- Snowflake
- Azure Web Application development experience
- Azure Data Factory
- Support web application development, data engineering, ETL pipeline development, and backend database integration within the Azure Commercial Cloud environment
- Work closely with applications, data, platform, and business teams to build and support cloud-based business applications using Azure Web Apps, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, SQL Server, Redis cache, and modern UI/API development technologies
Must-Have Skills:
- Strong Snowflake database experience, including creating tables, views, stored procedures, functions, tasks/jobs, and writing medium to complex SQL queries
- Experience with Snowflake schema design, data loading, query tuning, and troubleshooting
- Azure Web Application development experience
- Experience developing application user interfaces using React.js, Angular, or similar frontend frameworks
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Backend API development experience using .NET Core, Node.js, Python FastAPI, or similar frameworks
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs
- Azure Data Factory creation, data pipeline development, scheduling, monitoring, and maintenance
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and data integration patterns
- Experience integrating applications with Snowflake, SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Blob Storage
- Redis cache knowledge, including cache-aside patterns, performance improvement, and troubleshooting
- Web application security knowledge, including authentication, authorization, role-based access control, OAuth, SSO, JWT, and secure API access
- Strong troubleshooting skills across UI, API, database, data pipeline, and access-related issues
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps
- Experience with Git-based source control, branching, pull requests, and deployment workflows
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Key Vault, Managed Identity, and Application Insights
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality checks, data lineage, and data validation
- Experience with Databricks, Matillion, Informatica, Talend, or other ETL/data engineering tools
- Experience with performance tuning for SQL queries, APIs, and web applications
- Knowledge of cloud security, network connectivity, private endpoints, firewall rules, and secrets management
- Experience working in Agile teams with user stories, sprint planning, testing, and production support
