Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients to identify symptoms related to eating disorders as well as any co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Design and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment data, collaborating closely with clients to establish realistic recovery goals.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), effectively during therapy sessions.
  • Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions, focusing on addressing distorted beliefs regarding body image, self-worth, and dietary behaviors.
  • Teach clients healthy coping mechanisms and emotional regulation skills necessary to manage their eating disorders and related challenges.
  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure integrated care and address the holistic needs of clients.
  • Provide psychoeducation to clients and their support systems to enhance understanding of eating disorders and foster an environment conducive to recovery.
  • Maintain meticulous and timely records of client interactions, treatment progress, and therapeutic plans in compliance with professional standards.
  • Engage in professional development activities, including training sessions and case conferences, to stay informed about the latest practices in eating disorder treatment.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role involves supporting clients struggling with eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder. You will interact with a diverse group of individuals who may also experience co-occurring mental health issues, requiring a tailored and sensitive approach to treatment.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Must hold a current and valid license as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Tennessee.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the application of evidence-based therapies for the treatment of eating disorders, including CBT, DBT, and ACT.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the complexities of eating disorders and the co-occurring mental health conditions that may accompany them.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, with a talent for establishing rapport and cultivating trust with clients.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working as a mental health counselor, preferably within a clinical setting focused on eating disorders.
