Remote Executive Attorney information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Executive Attorney, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Executive Attorney, you need a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, active bar licensure, and deep expertise in business law, contracts, and corporate governance. Familiarity with legal research tools (such as Westlaw or LexisNexis), secure document management systems, and virtual collaboration platforms is essential. Outstanding communication, negotiation, and independent problem-solving abilities will help you excel in advising executives and managing complex legal matters remotely. These skills ensure you can deliver strategic legal counsel, protect organizational interests, and maintain compliance from any location.

How does a Remote Executive Attorney typically collaborate with clients and legal teams while working off-site?

Remote Executive Attorneys frequently rely on secure digital communication tools, such as video conferencing, encrypted email, and document management platforms, to collaborate with clients and internal teams. They participate in virtual meetings, draft and review legal documents, and provide counsel without being physically present in the office. This arrangement requires strong self-management skills, proactive communication, and familiarity with remote work technology to ensure seamless coordination and maintain client trust. Building effective relationships remotely is essential, and attorneys often set regular check-ins and maintain clear documentation to support ongoing projects.

What is a Remote Executive Attorney?

A Remote Executive Attorney is a highly experienced lawyer who provides legal counsel and representation to companies, executives, or organizations while working remotely, often from a home office or other offsite location. These attorneys typically handle complex legal matters such as corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, and employment law. They may also draft and review contracts, advise on risk management, and represent clients in negotiations or litigation. Working remotely allows them to serve clients across different locations while maintaining flexibility and efficiency.

Job description

GC AI is the fastest-growing and most trusted legal AI platform for in-house legal teams. We're building the future of legal work, and we're doing it fast. You'll join at a pivotal moment-when decisions matter, impact is immediate, and the runway to shape your career is wide open. We're a high-performing team where you'll have real ownership and influence from day one.
More than 1,800 companies use GC AI to drive their business forward, including 150+ public companies, 25+ unicorns, and brands such as News Corp, Miro, Bass Pro Shops, Snyk, Skims, Liquid Death, Vercel, Zscaler, and TIME.
We've 10x'd revenue in 12 months, raised a $60 million Series B ($555 million valuation), and are growing faster than ever. We are backed by incredible investors, including Scale Venture Partners, Northzone, Sound Ventures, and Guillermo Rauch, CEO of Vercel.
If you thrive when the stakes are high and the path isn't paved, you'll love it here. Our six guiding principles are: 1% better every day, customer obsession, ship today, find a way, care deeply, and own it completely. Come shape the future of legal work with us.
Location(s)
We are hiring for this role to be based in the United States or Canada. This is a remote role unless you fall within the following parameters. If you live within approximately 50 miles of our San Mateo, CA or Provo, UT office, the position follows a hybrid schedule with in-office days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
About The Role
GC AI's Solutions organization is the strategic bridge between our technology and our customers. As the Director, Pre-Sales Solutions, you'll build and run the GTM-focused Solutions Attorney team that partners directly with Sales to drive revenue in complex, high-stakes deals. You'll own the team's staffing model, triage process, and operating rhythm, ensuring every pitch delivers tailored, high-impact demonstrations of GC AI's value to legal teams. This role reports to Andrew Conley, CRO.
Travel may be up to 25% of the time.
What You'll Do
  • Build and scale the GTM Solutions team, including hiring, coaching, and developing Solutions Attorneys and Specialists across enterprise and mid-market segments.
  • Own the staffing and resource allocation model, maintaining alignment ratios that flex by segment (e.g., Enterprise vs. Strategic AEs) and geographic coverage to match sales team growth.
  • Design and enforce the deal triage process, implementing a formalized intake SOP so every sales support request is qualified, prioritized, and resourced based on deal size and complexity.
  • Partner with Sales leadership to align Solutions coverage with pipeline priorities, forecast resource demand, and ensure the team is deployed against the highest-impact opportunities.
  • Raise the bar on demo quality and technical depth, ensuring Solutions Attorneys deliver tailored demonstrations grounded in prospect-specific legal workflows, not generic feature tours.
  • Create the feedback loop between Solutions and Sales, briefing reps on technical workflows before meetings and ensuring Solutions receives full prospect context before every call.
  • Drive team development, assigning junior team members to mid-market deals for hands-on training while deploying senior attorneys on complex enterprise pitches.

Required Experience
  • 5+ years managing a Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Pre-Sales team at a high-growth SaaS company.
  • Track record of scaling a pre-sales function alongside a rapidly growing sales organization.
  • Experience designing and operationalizing resource allocation models, triage processes, and team operating rhythms.
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills, with demonstrated ability to build trust and operating cadence with Sales leadership and AEs.
  • Excellent communication and coaching ability, with a hands-on approach to developing talent at multiple experience levels.

Nice To Have
  • Experience selling to or supporting legal, compliance, or GRC buyers.
  • Background in AI, legal tech, or workflow automation products.
  • Familiarity with enterprise sales cycles involving security reviews, procurement, and multi-stakeholder evaluation.
  • Experience at a company that scaled from Series A/B through Series C+ growth stages.

A Note On Pace
We're building something new in a once-in-a-generation shift in technology and the legal industry, so we move at a relentless pace. We expect urgency, ownership, and good judgment even when things aren't perfectly clear. If you need structure and consensus to do your best work, this isn't the right place for you. If you thrive in ambiguity and growth, work with intensity, and want real responsibility, keep reading. We're excited to meet you.
How We Work Together
GC AI is a distributed company with team members across North America, and soon Europe. We believe that because our business is AI, human connection matters more, not less. We invest in bringing people together through our hub model: regular coworking sessions, customer dinners, team and company offsites. If you're in a location without an office, expect up to 10% travel (and more for customer-facing roles).
Team members in the San Francisco Bay Area and Provo, UT (within 50 miles of the office) work together on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. As we grow, we plan to establish permanent offices in more hub cities, and we will look to our team members to help build that in-person culture. We currently hire across the United States and Canada.
Equal Opportunity Employment
GC AI is an equal opportunity employer that supports workplace diversity and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender identity/expression, national origin, age, military service eligibility, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, physical or mental disability, or any other protected class. GC AI is committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodation to applicants with physical and mental disabilities. #LI-GCAI
