Roles may include data analyst, financial analyst, administrative assistant, or report specialist, and they often require collaboration via email or online platforms. Remote Excel jobs offer flexibility and the chance to contribute to organizations without being tied to a physical office.

Job description

Overview

We're looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team on a fully remote, work-from-home basis. Reporting to the Controller, you'll own the day-to-day Accounts Receivable function, from invoicing and collections to payment application and cheque deposits. The ideal candidate brings previous AR experience, sharp attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position is key to keeping our receivables accurate and our client relationships strong, working collaboratively across departments to deliver exceptional service. If you're someone who can run your own desk independently while staying genuinely connected to a team, this could be the role for you!

Why A & A?

We've been in business since 1979, and we're not your average customs broker. A few things that set us apart:

  • Work from home, for real. This is a hybrid with the flexibility to work from home and skip the daily commute, build your day around your life, and stay genuinely connected to a team that makes remote workwork.
  • We invest in your growth. Through our Learn & Grow program, we partner with you to earn industry designations, and we will reward you with acompletion bonus when you finish your program.
  • Comprehensive benefits. Medical, dental, health, and vision, plus a company-sponsored RRSP program.
  • Predictable hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm PDT.
  • A culture worth joining. Even in a remote environment, you'll feel connected, supported, and part of a great team.

What You'll Do

As our Accounts Receivable Specialist, you'll:

  • Review, post, and send client invoices
  • Analyze customer aging reports and proactively reach out to clients with open AR balances
  • Respond promptly and professionally to all customer inquiries
  • Apply payments and credits accurately and on time, and handle cheque deposits
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve invoicing and collection issues
  • Serve as backup for other accounting team members during vacations
  • Maintain a strict level of confidentiality at all times
  • Spot and recommend improvements to internal processes
  • Pick up and distribute mail from our Surrey PO box and downtown Vancouver office (approximately twice a week, see "The Driving Part" below)
  • Take on other projects and tasks as assigned by the Controller

What You Bring

  • A post-secondary accounting diploma plus 1-2 years of Accounts Receivable experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication - you can connect with customers clearly and professionally
  • Sound judgment, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the motivation to take initiative
  • A team-first mindset with the ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • High proficiency with Google Sheets and MS Excel

The Driving Part

This is primarily a remote, work-from-home role. That said, you'll need reliable transportation and a valid driver's licence to travel to our Surrey, BC post office and occasionally to our downtown Vancouver office - to handle mail and other physical duties (roughly twice a week). If you enjoy a change of scenery a couple of times a week, you'll fit right in.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 CAD/year

Ready to apply? We'd love to hear from you.
