As a Reinsurance Examiner, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate management of reinsurance and excess reporting for workers' compensation and property and liability programs. This role is remote within the state of California and provides a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $105,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.


How you'll make an impact

In this role, you’ll ensure reinsurance and excess carriers receive timely and accurate reports, while working closely with managers and supervisors to address inquiries and maintain quality control. You’ll analyze large loss reports, provide feedback to the claims team, and support external audits. Your work will help ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across all branches.

You’ll also:

  • Manage monthly reinsurance reporting and respond to inquiries from carriers.
  • Review and approve large loss reports, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Provide ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support external reinsurance audits and manage carrier system access.
  • Deliver feedback to the claims team and develop success stories.

About You

Required: High school diploma and 5 years related claims experience required. Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all states in which claims are being handled or able to obtain the licenses/certification per local requirements. Extensive knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices. Computer experience with related claims and business software.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree preferred.
Behaviors: Ability to think critically, solve problems, plan and organize activities, serve clients, negotiate, effectively communicate verbally and in writing and embrace new challenges. Analytical skill necessary to make decisions and resolve complex issues inherent in handling losses. Ability to successfully negotiate the settlement and disposition of serious claims including the ability to interpret related documentation.
