Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for an Associate/Journey Salesforce Developer, Information Technology (REMOTE AVAILABLE) [R0151805].

ROLE of the POSITION

The Office of Information Technology will consider candidates for either Associate/Journey Developer based on relevant skills and required experience.

Associate Salesforce Developer

The Associate Salesforce Developer (ASFD) will play a key role within the applications development team, which is responsible for a highly customized Salesforce instance. The ASFD will work with the Digital Enablement (DE) leadership team to ensure ideas of the business leaders are brought to reality. The ASFD will recommend ways to improve processes and system efficiencies and will work with other key staff members to ensure that team goals are attained. The person in this position will collaborate with internal teams to develop custom solutions to fit business goals across the entire campus. The incumbent will work with clients to translate business rules and functional specifications into requirements, before acting on those requirements to build solutions. This position is an entry-level contributor to department brainstorming and design meetings.

The ASFD is expected to:

  • Work with supervision on a small development team that designs, develops, tests, and deploys software/web applications.

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of software engineering concepts and be a contributor working on full lifecycle engineering efforts using Agile methodologies, object-oriented design, and accepted best practices.

  • Partner with business representatives to define requirements and develop technical specifications in support of UNLV student, faculty, and staff services.

  • Communicate effectively to ensure that all business requirements are being assessed and addressed to ensure development projects meet or exceed performance targets.

  • Identify and contribute to solutions to correct software defects through unit, integration, system, and customer acceptance testing.

  • Be confident and push back, when necessary, on ideas that will compromise the integrity of the data and Salesforce instance.

  • Help to produce project documentation, including functional and technical designs, and end-user guides.

  • Contribute to support cases that require problem solving for our diverse user base.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing, designing, and configuring the UNLV Salesforce organization to effectively support business processes leveraging Salesforce best practices and alignment with overall sales and service requirements.

  • Build Salesforce applications using Apex and Lightning Component Framework and leverage the full capabilities of the Salesforce platform to support the university's programs.

  • Apply best practices and design patterns of best-of-breed applications developed on the Salesforce.com platform.

  • Develop proofs of concept (POC) as needed, integrating new components with back-office systems during the design and requirements phase to evaluate products and integration strategies.

  • Assist in creating testing and implementation plans, including user training and documentation.

  • Remain current with Salesforce technologies and best practices.

  • Assist in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving defects encountered during different stages of project delivery, including during the deployment and implementation of the solution in production environments.

  • Interact directly with customer, project team, and other stakeholders to ensure customer success.

Journey Salesforce Developer

The Journey Salesforce Developer (JSFD) will play a contributing role within the applications development team, which is responsible for a highly customized Salesforce instance. The JSFD will contribute to the Digital Enablement (DE) leadership team to ensure ideas of the business leaders are brought to reality. The JSFD will proactively seek out ways to improve processes and system efficiencies and will work with other key staff members to ensure that team goals are attained. The person in this position will collaborate with internal teams to develop custom solutions to fit business goals across the entire campus. The incumbent will work with clients to translate business rules and functional specifications into requirements, before acting on those requirements to build solutions. This position is a main contributor to department brainstorming and design meetings.

The JSFD is expected to:

Associate Salesforce Developer

Required: This role requires a minimum of 1 year of experience with Salesforce Ecosystem systems and best practices, 1 year of experience with application and software development (within or outside Salesforce ecosystem), and 1 year of experience with Apex and the Lightning Component Framework.

Preferred: Experience in a higher education environment, particularly at a 4-year, large public R1 university, is preferred, along with Salesforce Platform Developer I and Salesforce App Builder certifications. Some experience with or exposure to Salesforce Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) is also desirable, including familiarity with foundational concepts such as data ingestion, data modeling, identity resolution, segmentation, profile unification, and activation.

Journey Salesforce Developer

Required: This role requires a minimum of 2+ years' experience with Salesforce Ecosystem systems and best practices, as well as a Salesforce App Builder Certification.

Preferred: Experience in a higher education environment, particularly at a 4-year, large public R1 university, along with one year of supervisory experience, is preferred. Demonstrated experience implementing or supporting Salesforce Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud), including data ingestion, modeling, identity resolution, segmentation, profile unification, and activation or integration with Salesforce applications, is also desired, or demonstrated experience implementing or supporting Salesforce Agentforce (generative AI) capabilities, including configuration, testing, and evaluation, and collaboration on governance and security controls.
