What is remote entertainment rigging?

Remote entertainment rigging involves designing, installing, and operating rigging systems for live events, concerts, theater productions, or film sets from a remote location. This job uses advanced technology to control lighting, scenery, or equipment safely and efficiently without being physically present at the venue. Rigging specialists ensure that equipment is securely suspended and maneuvered, often collaborating with on-site teams through video feeds and specialized software. This allows productions to benefit from expert rigging support regardless of geographic location.

To thrive as a Remote Entertainment Rigger, you need a solid understanding of rigging principles, load calculations, and safety standards, often supported by relevant technical training or certification (such as ETCP). Familiarity with CAD software, remote rigging control systems, and specialized hardware is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with production teams and ensuring safe operations from a distance. These skills and qualities are vital to ensure the safety, precision, and reliability of entertainment installations in remote or hybrid work environments.
