Senior Mechanical Engineer - Payload Cabling & Packaging (Remote)
Location: 100% Remote (Anywhere in the US)
Job Type: Full-Time & Contract Options Available
Requirements: US Citizenship Required
Compensation: $135,000 - $160,000 / year + Comprehensive Benefits
About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in hardware packaging and cable routing to support a newly awarded space program. In this role, you will integrate into an established engineering core alongside an Electrical Engineer and a Design Drafter to architect the mechanical footprint and physical routing of cables within a Multi-Mission Payload (MMP). If you excel at solving complex spatial constraints, strategizing physical cable routes within COTS enclosures, and driving seamless electromechanical integration, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Requirements Definition: Define and document the critical mechanical portions of cable requirements needed within the payload.
  • Routing Strategy: Strategize and optimize the physical routing for a complex mixture of RF and Digital cables internal to a COTS box.
  • Systems Interconnection: Design and define the physical interconnections between various hardware artifacts at the broader payload level.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with electrical and drafting teams to ensure seamless and precise electromechanical integration.
Qualifications:
  • BS degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field, plus 8 or more years of related professional experience.
  • Proven background in complex cable routing, physical space management, and electromechanical packaging within densely enclosed hardware.
  • Preferred: Direct experience in the space industry, specifically designing or packaging hardware for space payloads.
