RTX is seeking an experienced and motivated Cloud Release and Deployment Engineer who will take ownership of the release process for deploying Azure landing zones within our internal public cloud environment focusing on our SAP migration project.

The Release and Deployment Engineer plays a key role to build high-quality and innovative cloud-based landing zones, and ensuring those landing zones are tested and meet the RTX compliance requirements, best practices and government guidelines. This individual will collaborate with business and technical colleagues to identify and demonstrate the value and benefits of cloud solutions, and provide inputs to the RTX platform team for platform and program objectives.

What You Will Do:

Own and manage the end-to-end release process for Azure landing zone deployments

  • Quickly learn and master the current release process, while continuously identifying areas for improvement

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Ansible playbooks for automated deployments

  • Work with Terraform configurations to manage Azure infrastructure

  • Troubleshoot and optimize Python code used in the deployment process

  • Implement and maintain robust testing procedures for new changes and deployments

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of release processes

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all release procedures and actions taken

  • Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements in a highly regulated government contracting environment

  • Participate in on-call rotations to support production deployments and troubleshoot issues

  • Complete the establishment of the onboarding process ensure that the app teams can engage and navigate the onboarding process

  • Become an expert for the RTX public cloud implementation and the onboarded services that are offered

  • Become familiar with the programs infrastructure automation efforts to ensure the proper information is gathered during engagements

  • Ensure the service request forms allow for proper intake of required information to work towards an automated solution

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with Ansible, including the ability to write and troubleshoot complex YAML playbooks

  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code

  • Experience in Python programing with the ability to read, troubleshoot, and improve existing code

  • Experience with Azure cloud services and architectures, particularly with landing zones

  • Exposure to SAP systems and migration projects

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Azure DevOps for project management and CI/CD

  • Familiarity with other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) for multi-cloud comparisons

  • Experience with Git for version control

  • Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, or relevant AWS/GCP certifications

Role Type: Remote

This position is currently designated as remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories). Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
