What are remote embedded jobs?

Remote embedded jobs involve designing, developing, and maintaining embedded systems software or firmware, while working from a location outside of a traditional office—often from home. These roles typically require expertise in programming languages such as C or C++ and familiarity with hardware interfaces, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems. Remote embedded engineers collaborate with teams using online tools and may work on products ranging from consumer electronics to automotive or industrial devices. The remote aspect allows for flexible work arrangements and access to a broader range of job opportunities across the globe.

What Are Remote Embedded Jobs?

Remote embedded jobs include positions within the software and development industry that focus on engineering, developing, and maintaining software for embedded systems and networks. Common titles include “remote embedded software engineer” and “remote embedded developer.” Embedded software has a specific task related to the operations of a hardware system. As an embedded software engineer who works from home, your duties include coding software to perform a particular function, such as the control of a piece of machinery or the collection of data from a system. As a remote embedded software developer, you perform a similar job and sometimes help clients customize embedded software. You may also work as a remote quality assurance engineer where your responsibilities involve testing existing software.

How does a Remote Embedded Engineer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams while working offsite?

Remote Embedded Engineers often work closely with hardware, software, and quality assurance teams, even when not physically present. Collaboration is facilitated through regular video meetings, shared documentation, and version control systems like Git. Effective communication is crucial, as tasks such as debugging hardware remotely or reviewing code require clear coordination. Many teams use project management tools to track progress and ensure alignment, allowing remote engineers to contribute seamlessly to product development and problem-solving.

Job description

About the position

NetDocuments is seeking a Legal Innovation Partner to be a senior individual contributor embedded in the firm relationships that matter most to NetDocuments. You are not a typical customer success manager - you are an expert in legal AI strategy and transformation who serves as the primary strategic advisor to a portfolio of law firm and legal department clients. You are responsible for their success with NetDocuments, and you own the renewal and expansion of that book of business.

You will guide clients through every stage of their AI adoption journey - from understanding their current workflow and identifying high-impact use cases, through implementation, change management, and measurement of outcomes. Your clients trust you not just as a vendor contact, but as a thought partner. When they have a question about what legal AI means for their firm, you are who they call.

What You'll Do

  • Own a portfolio of strategic law firm and legal department client relationships, serving as the primary advisor and point of accountability for their NetDocuments experience and AI transformation journey
  • Drive renewal and expansion within your assigned book of business - maintaining high net revenue retention rates and identifying meaningful upsell and cross-sell opportunities aligned to client needs
  • Develop and execute tailored AI adoption roadmaps for each client, working with firm leadership and legal technology teams to identify the highest-value use cases and build measurable adoption plans
  • Lead executive-level business reviews with firm management committees, CIOs, and Chief Innovation Officers - communicating ROI, adoption performance, and strategic direction clearly and confidently
  • Identify and escalate at-risk accounts proactively, partnering with Sales and Forward Deployed Engineers to develop and execute remediation plans
  • Collaborate with the Product and Engineering teams to channel client feedback into the product roadmap, advocating for the features and integrations that will drive adoption and stickiness in your portfolio
  • Contribute to the development of the LIP playbook - sharing what works with the broader Legal Innovation Partner team and helping establish best practices for AI transformation engagement
  • Represent NetDocuments at legal technology conferences, client advisory boards, and industry events
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • 8+ years of experience in legal technology, legal operations, enterprise customer success, or management consulting focused on the legal sector
  • Fluent in using AI for legal workflows and legal use
  • Direct experience owning client relationships and renewal/expansion outcomes in a B2B SaaS or legal technology environment
  • Fluency in law firm operations - you understand how firms are structured, how decisions get made, how technology is evaluated and adopted, and what drives attorney behavior
  • JD or equivalent legal industry experience strongly preferred. Prior law firm practice (associate or counsel level) is a significant advantage in establishing credibility with firm leadership
  • Proven ability to build trusted advisory relationships with senior law firm stakeholders, including partners, COOs, CIOs, and practice group leaders.
  • Comfort navigating complex, multi-stakeholder organizations and moving multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to design and deliver compelling client presentations and ROI narratives
  • Familiarity with legal AI applications, document management systems, and the broader LegalTech ecosystem
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to client sites and industry events

  • 90% healthcare premiums company covered
  • HSA company contribution
  • 401K match at 4% with immediate vesting
  • Flexible PTO (typically 3 to 4 weeks a year)
  • 10 paid holidays
  • Monthly contributions for life activities & wellness
  • Access to LinkedIn learning with monthly dedicated time to explore
